I was wondering if anybody had tried to get a wireless entry keypad for an '04 Xterra. All the ones I've seen are for '05 and up (part no. 999KE-AR000), even though it says it works the same as your wireless key fob, which would suggest to me that it should work for all versions.

I just don't want to spend the money to find out it doesns't work!

Yes, I believe that part number will work for 2000-2004.

You can find them online for about $60

I know this is an old post but I'm still curious. Where could I get a KEYPAD (not key fob) for a 2004 X on the internet?

I once saw a picture of an X with the key pad installed inside the gas cap lid. I'm digging that idea. That way I can lock my keys in the car and not have to worry about getting locked out :D

Bump

Guess this a pretty old thread-
Did anyone ever find the answer to this question? Can you use the 999KE-AR000 keypad on a 2004 Xterra?

I have one on my 05 and it works great. I'd like to put one on my GFs 2004 if it will work. I've found conflicting reports during google search

Thnx

I saw NissanPartsOnline lists that part number under the 2000-2002, as well as other year ranges of Xterras... but other than that I'm not sure

The keypad is a glorified key fob, just with a code. It programs on the vehicle just like a key fob, and when you type the right code, it transmits a unlock RF frequency tricking the vehicle to unlock the door.

The 04 and 05 use different key fobs, so I doubt that it work work, but it cant hurt to try if you have one..

Different as in just appearance, or different as in different frequency, radio technology (regular FM vs Spread Spectrum), different encryption/codes, etc? (That's a legit question not being a smart ass, I really am curious)
