I'm in the process of changing all of the fluids on my 2001 Xterra 4x4 with automatic transmission. I typically have it done for me but bad experiences have caused me to learn to do it myself. I've got them all done except for the automatic tranny. I've spent quite a while under the truck but can't find the drain plug. Anyone have a pic or can describe what to look for? I feel pretty stupid since it shouldn't be that hard but I'm stumped. Thanks!

Sorry for the late response, as I haven't been on here in awhile.
The automatic tranny drain plug is very short (doesn't stick out too far from the pan). Like json3904 said, it is on the bottom of the pan. If I remember correctly, the plug on my '01 2WD was towards the rear of the pan on the passenger's side.
My '01 2WD didn't have a tranny skid plate, so the plug was easily visible - not sure if the '01 4x4 has a skid, though.
