I think its about time to lift the X. The only thing that makes me hesistant is that I have heard that the lift will cause the drivetrain, CV joints, and diffs to wear prematurely. Is this true, and to what extent? I have a 2010 so I will have to think twice if that is the case ( This is gonna be my truck until it wont run anymore).

I was thinking about doing a spacer and shackle lift. I was wondering why the majority of people choose the AAL over the shackle?

I just wanna know what the ideal lift combination would be ideal for the X.

I do wheel as much as I can, that is why Im thinkin I need the lift (Colorado mountains will tear ya up)! I just want to do what is going to keep the ride as smooth as possible without premature wearing of key components.

Any input you guys have would be great. Ive seen almost all of youre rigs and drool! Someday my baby will get there :D. Lets hear it guys!

Thanks :salute:

*Bump*

Come on guys. I have been doing more research and I am still confused as to the best route to go...

So far Ive come up with 5100 Bilstein adjustable shocks for the front and an AAl for the rear.. But I have no idea what else I would need to accommodate those two...

Help?

Dude, a 2" lift will NOT hurt your drive train. There are lots of options out there, but most of the guys on this forum agree that PRG (www.prgproducts.com) makes super high quality stuff designed specifically for Nissans. And their customer service is great. Greg is the owner and really makes himself available for calls if you need help with anything. Here's the lift I got for my Xterra.

Front spacers (http://www.prgproducts.com/shop/product/prg_xterra_front_lift_spacers_and_mini_kits/).

Add a leaf in rear (http://www.prgproducts.com/shop/product/2_prg_deaver_xterra_2-leaf_spring_pack/).

You can also try Calmini (http://www.purenissan.com/xterra.htm), but word on the street is they give horrible customer service.

Hope this helps.

Nate is right, a 2' lift will not cause any premature damage or wear, where did you hear this? Dealerships often say that because they hate working on modded trucks

The stock suspension on an Xterra is just fine. It won't win you any races, but for a daily driver and weekend off roader it does the job. I chose to do an AAL in the back because it stiffens things up a bit and gives you less sag when carrying a load or towing. My Xterra looks great with a little extra height and it performs as it should off road. That said, in the future I plan on getting a PRG Products coli over kit (http://www.prgproducts.com/shop/product/4wd_advanced_coilover_kit/) for a tiny bit more height (larger tires) and greater articulation.

So far I think the PRG basic lift with spacers (comes with bump stops I believe) and the deaver AAL would be best for me. What do you guys think of that setup? I have heard that I might get some vibration.. Should I just order the shims with the kit, or wait to see if I get the vibration?
And Ben, its funny that you say that. It was the dealership that told me that it would cause premature wear!!! (Also heard the same thing from a jeep buddy when I asked him about it)

I didn't get any vibration when I installed my kit and I bought the exact same thing.

Its kinda sounding like the vibration is a rare problem.

Hey Nate did you buy after market UCA's? Or were the spacers fine with the PRG bumpstops?

I plan on buying UCAs in the future, but all i have now is the basic set up Greg offers. Spacers (which come with bumpstops) and the AAL.
