oh its Stripped, but with the full weight of the X on it i can't even kick it out of place, i'm going to guess that its been that way for some time, and its really not going to matter that much. What harm can it it do if it where to slip out?

what do you mean it dosent matter.... if its messed up then fix it... and just becacuse it might have been that way for a long time, then whose to say it might not break as soon as the next time you drive the X it wont take long to replace..... FIX IT!!!!!

oh and my 2 cents is to goto the junkyard are you can just unbolt that whole piece (lower spring perch i guess) its probably the easiest thing possible to take off (exaggeration)

I would definitely replace it now. It might be stripped. Why dont you try re-threading it? That would be easier. It is not fun to take off.
If you do replace it, consider having a fab shop do it and make armor out of it.

well thats one reason i don't want to take the damn thing off to quote soccerbrace "It is not fun to take off." but i guess i'll go out and find a junk yard and and hope they have an X there....

how about it coming off at freeway speeds and you going over a hump at 65-70 and losing control due to the oncontrolled bouncing on only one corner of your truck.
i say you will roll it.
and if you cant kick it off while its sitting there.
the full weight iisnt on it as you drive, everytime you go over a hump, bump, edge the weight comes off the suspension on the way down the other side, thats a pretty good time for it to come off if its gonna

what do you mean it is hard to take off myself and ricer had my rear end taken apart in less than 30 min, and when we were working on my X we were BSing more than working...... spray everything with some penetrating oil then put a jack under the rear end then you loosenthe shock... after that you loosen the 4 nuts and the plate will come off..... good luck and like i said in the previous post i WOULD FIX IT BEFOR YOU CONTINUE TO DRIVE AND IT FALLS APART......... i think i aint the only one that thinks that either
