are there different types that are better than others... walmart has one that is 48'' on sale for 50 bucks... but I was worried that the quality may not be the best.

If it's an off-brand I wouldn't trust it, but if it's labeled with the Hi-Lift brand I would go for it.

4x4parts has them...

Don't buy any off-brand. Knock-offs will fail; Hi-Lift's are the only way to go.

Consider that you'll be lifting a 4000# + vehicle (plus the weight of your gear) and, from a safety standpoint, you'll realize that you want nothing but the safest and most reliable. Chuck and SnowChaser are right, knock-off Hi-Lifts are a no-no. Get the best.

Ive seen Hi-lifts at Northern Tools for 50$ but then again... Ive seen Tractor Supply have these off brands... for cheaper... Ill have a Hi-lift one day.. but think about this... Where are you going to jack up the Xterra from? your pretty much stock... these need a steel bumper or slidders... And for the knock offs... I dont think TSC would sell one that picks up a Tractor and it be crap... Hi lift is a name brand... like Nike vs Reebok..
Ive argued this before....

I'm with drbandkgb. If you find one thats solidly built and a good price, it shouldn't matter if it has Hi-Lift stamped on it or not. Tractor supply, northern tool, and plenty of other places have the same thing but it costs less because it doesn't say Hi-Lift on it.

I have an off-brand "farm Jack" that I got at some traveling tool store. I've had it and abused it for 7 or 8 years now with no complaints. Rock-solid.

i was thinking about where I would be able to lift it from since I do not have rock rails.... but to be able to lift it would be good because my plans are sand from oct to april in glamis... and it would be nice to lift the tires if I get stuck and throw some wood or carpet under there.. I have spend a lot of time digging with a shovel on other trucks trying to make a place to put something for it to grip... seems a lift up and fill in the holes will be easier

can't remember if it's a hi-lift or not I've had it so long, but it's never failed when needed (really to change tires on the Jeep lol)

You can see it across the back by the rear door

that thing is cool... but damn expensive maybe I'll just do a lift, and rely on others to get me out :icon_wink: LMAO - but really I need to be able to lift a lifted Silverado as well.
