If anyone has the calmini sliders could you please post some pics and chime in...i just finished one side of mine out of square tubing and i brought them straight out from the frame, but it seems like they're pretty low to me...do the calmini ones have any any at all to them? what do the mounts look like? i know they're made from rectangular tubing but mine just seem low to me...

Yeah - They go straight out....so they hit on rocks and stumps that are lower, and are not up closer to the rocker panels they are supposed to protect.

They do work though, and other than hanging up more easily, the design is strong, and makes a good step.

If you wanted yours to be better than the Calmini version, yes - you would have the bars curve up closer to the rocker panels like the Shrock's do.

Plenty of people wheel with simple straight out bars though...and sure, they get stuck sometimes...but, they are also protected, which is job #1...and that's what the recovery points are for anyway....to get you unstuck.

A buddy of mine hung up on his sliders that come straight out....who would have just made it if the sliders curved up.

:wink-big:

They are low because calmini used a different mounting set up to go around the pinch seem. Also, you are welding these with a 220 welder right??

oh those are different than i figured. and yeah, if i get stuck thats a lot better than damaged rocker panels.

and yeah big dog, my welds might look like bubble gum but they are strong, and i gusseted the hell out of 'em. i did the hi-lift test when i only had two of the mounting points done and they flexed a but but held up, and the third leg (haha) is more gusseted than the others

be careful....they may weaken and break over time since even though there is plenty of weld they did not penetrate as far as a 220 welder would. Don't let me put you down though....my jeep buddy has done some insane welding with his 110 like you wouldnt believe,
