I just did a torsion bar crank and have been told it was a bad idea. I know a lot of people on here have done it, but I haven't really heard the downside. What are some of the problems I might encounter with doing the PML. My brother told me something about the ball joints going out.

If you've kept it within normal limits, you'll have no problems.

Do these Naysayers own Xterra's?
Just a rnt, you can go into any 4x4 shop and most of those guys hardly know anything about Nissans. They are stuck with Domestics, namely Dodge, ford, and Chevy and Jeep. They will tell you that somethin fits when in actuality it will not. Speak with us or other Nissan enthusiasts. You are better off that way. You do not often see a domestic going into a Nissan shop. 4x4 parts is pretty much domestic only. Those guys just guess things and I say leave the guesswork out. Talk to those in the know.

ive had mine cranked for a about a year now and the only differnce ive found besides the lift is that it rides smoother. but my buddy whoo did it for knows alot about cars inside and out. he said there should be any problems if as long as you dont max them out. ive got about 2" of lift out of mine and its fine.
But like kruzer said listen to these guys. you will be suprised how much they know.

Just so I'm clear, all you do to do the PML is crank the adjustment bolt that faces the ground on the torsion bar adjustment point (middle-ish crossmember)... right? Do you have to loosen the nut on the top or just go for it?
Do you have to jack the front of the X up to do it?
