Whatsup everyone!
Well i'm coming off my speed kick from a STI and i'm looking into an xterra. Anything that you recommend to people that are looking to buy? better years to look for? common issues? anything you think I should know!

my wife and i love our 2010 x. i have always liked the xterras and finally convinced the wife its in our best interest to spend a tone of money on a new x. we test drove a couple fj cruizers and pathfinders but felt we were getting more for the money with the x. we are very outdoorsy and needed something that that life style. the all plastic trunk area is great for our dog and he is not climbing all over the cab of our car and getting hair every where. the only two things i do not like is that the stereo system is not easily interchangable with an aftermarket system (the older models are) and i would have like to have a power rear window for the dog to hang his head out of like in the toyota 4runner

Welcome A Board!
:D
It would help to know what your interests are, and your budget.
The 2005+ Xterra's get more mpg, and, have ~ and extra 100 hp...but, are more $ (These are called the Second Generation X's...)
The 2000 - 2004 X's are built like tanks, run like tractors, and about as fast....but are cheap. (These are called First Gen X's...)
They are all reliable beasts.
If you plan on off roading, the OR model of the 2005+ X's is the king of the hill, mostly due to the sweet factory rear locker.
The 2nd Gen X's also come stock with larger diameter tires...and can fit tires that 1st gen X's need a lift to fit, etc.
The 1st gen X diffs/axles are stronger, especially the front diffs.
And so forth.
So - as a starting point...fill in some details about what above is relevant to YOU.
:D
2005 is a nice place to start fa sure !!

Hey I didn't know our axles and diffs were stronger.. interesting.
But yeah welcome man. What TJ said, and so forth. Worth mentioning that if you're coming from a STi, a 1st gen might be really disappointing for you in terms of speed and power.
