I have a 2000 Xterra and am trying to locate the Breather Filter. I've taken apart the black box on the driver's side behind the light and have found no evidence of a filter. Could some one clarify as to the exact location of the breather filter? Thanks.

alright if you look at the top of the motor there is a rubber flexable hose comming off of the intake, that a couple of small vacume lines connect to then right befor the air box there is a wire connector that goes to the mass air flow senser, then the black box that the hose connects to is the air box... i will try to post some pics tonight or tommorow

For those of you looking for the Breather Filter. . . it is located on the air filter cover. As You remove the cover to change the air filter. . . . turn the cover over. . . . there is the breather filter. It took me a while to figure it out too. This on the 2000 Xterra Models
