I have just joined the forum. I purchase a 2005 Xterra on June 6, 2007 with 25544 miles and am extremely happy with it. After driving a 1991 Mazda Protege since January 2, 1992 and a 2000 Chevy Cavalier since November 2002 I am really enjoying the comfortable ride. I have recently had the brakes repaired under the Service Bulletin and the dealer covered it under warranty. I would like more information on the best type of tires to use as it does need them before winter. This will be a street use vehicle only so I am looking for recommendations for a good highway tire. Thanks and God bless.

Welcome to the forum happyexterradriver. You should have a lot to choose from for a street tire. Personally, I go with two rules of thumb. Don't go cheap, and get a tire with a Silicon compound. They wear fantastic and stick like glue. The additional cost more than makes up for in mileage. They almost feel like they have better traction on wet streets than dry. I have over 40,000 miles on a set of Bridgestone Revos on my F150 and they are barely half worn. Very good tires. The Pirelli Scorpion ATR gets fantastic reviews as well as the Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor and Firestone Destination A/T. These may be a little more aggressive than you want, but a good place to start comparisons.

Check out the reviews on http://www.tirerack.com (http://www.tirerack.com/). This is a great place to compare a huge variety of tires and read what people are really thinking about their tires. Just remember to look for a general consensus and throw the extremes out.
