: Any Geocachers?

I love having my X to get out to harder to reach Geocaches. Some of my best finds have been in Canada around lake Superior. Any good finds out there? Find anything particularly odd or crazy? If anyone does Geocache and wants to add me as a friend (I started a new profile that's not associated with an ex-GF):

If you don't know what Geocaching is, it's a kind of treasure hunt using GPS coordinates to find a cache. Could be anything from a film canister to an ammo can. It's a great outdoor activity for anyone to do. Here's a link to the site, and to a quick video about it.

My 5 year old daughter loves to get out and go geocaching so I do fairly regularly. Nothing too difficult though, it's tough when you can't find the cache when you're 5 years old. Plus at 5 all the crap that is usually in the cache is like treasure!

That's awesome! My best friend takes his 4 yr old out to Geocache. Usually if I find a hot wheel or something like that I bring it back to him from my "treasure hunting". What GPS are you running with? I use a Garmin E trex Legend (as of right now) and I also use the Ipod App.

Hey fatkid, i've been caching for a few years now. My Xterra is a travel bug itself, haha. I'll look for you on geocaching.com

I enjoy geocaching but it's not a primary outdoor thing for me yet.
Usually when I decide to go explore an area, I'll jump over to geocache.com (http://www.geocaching.com/) and see if there are any larger, easy to snag caches near where I'm going. It's pretty fun to find though my Army buddy and I had a 10 min discussion over one ammo can we found as it looked like it was booby trapped but was just a plastic necklace that got slammed in the lid. Def prefer the clear tupperware to the ammo cans...hehe.

I'm Fzzt over on Geocache, go figure.

I go all the time here in PA. Haven't come across one yet that I could use the X for to really get to...I'm sure I'll come across one eventually though

Haven't been in a while but I like to go. I like the sound of taking the X though...

My X is now a travel bug too! My best friend got me a travel bug sticker, and a travel bug patch for my flight helmet.

Nice! I would have liked to see a travel patch on some flight helmets while in Afghanistan. We dealt alot with the medivacs out there, would have been interesting to see.

I've been wanting to get into it ever since I first heard about it; don't really know why I haven't done it yet...

I've done it a few times. Usually when I wanted to find a scenic place that I've never heard of.

I've gone occasionally - mainly when the kiddo was younger. Now I am looking to get back into it and road trip camping.

Was it along the lines of: : "what if this string is tied to the ring of the pin that holds the spring loaded "spoon" onto a smoke grenade "instant" fuze that was screwed into a "baseball" grenade"?

Not that I get any of that :D

You'd love wandering about the First War battlefields in France. Unexploded ordinance everywhere. The farmer's lay the rusted shells alongside the road for pickup by bomb squads as they till them up. You will often find bullets, bombs and handgrenades half exposed in the soil. At Mametz wood I was rocking back and forth on a large smooth stone and then looked down to see it was actually on the tell tale pineapple ridges of a Mill's bomb (aka Hand grenade) half exposed in the dirt. I took a few pics and then built a rock circle around it to identify it to future visitors. For a split second I was 12 again and actually reached down to start digging it up--thankfully my adult brain kicked the 12 year old in the ass and woke him up before he possibly went "Ka-boom"

I wondered if I'd find other geocachers here. I go by NoWhining and cache when I travel (mainly). Trying to rack up multiple states and countries now instead of just numbers. Love to take the X back in search of spots around Borrego Springs CA.

I go sometimes. Just depends on if I'm in the mood. Usually don't do much in the winter.

We go quite a bit and started geo-caching about 7 years ago.
Our first one was in Spokane WA. Ton-O-Fun!!! We now use the X to find the harder off road caches...going for one next weekend in Stevenson WA.

Geocacher here in NC! my SN is Jaaju.

I think it would be rad if the GroundSpeak company was a sponsor of NXM. Maybe have a hundred or so caches strewn throughout coal creek with different prizes in them/a nifty way to do the raffle.
