I just looked at my event schedule and it looks like even if I am booked for these events, they wont be until the latter half of October so go ahead and count me in!

And I'm hoping to have a nice little addition to my X by then. The last CC trip revealed a very important modification I'm going to bite the bullet on. Wasn't going to do it at all but after my near flop and seeing how easy it could have been, it just shot to the top of my list. Now to scrounge up a big chunk of money for it I hope.

Not sure yet, I was already thinking about URE with NOAS, but who knows, its a ways out.

It's 895$ for the locker, not sure about the compressor. Then I would need to get it installed. Probably looking at about 1500$.

hi guys, got sent over here from thenewx. it looks like i may be making this trip. ill be bringing my x, and some friends. a 4 runner, two frontiers, and an fj possibly. i will know more for sure when we get closer to time. i may also try to bring a 2wd X. we will see

The 2WD X can run a lot of trails there but it will really come down to trail and weather conditions. If it's sloppy, it could be a long day for them. But there's plenty of tow straps and winches to help them through. ;) I'm sure there will be plenty of available seats too if they just want to ride along.

yeah. i think he may just end up ridin along. i come there on 4 wheelers all the time. its a completely different place if the ground is wet. do you think i'll be ok with a stock x and some good tires. i really dont want to lift yet

OH yeah you'll be fine. I wheeled there several times when I was bonestock on bald tires and David and few others have as well. There is PLENTY to do in a stock rig there.

Yes you will be fine Stock... Like Drake said it is all about weather conditions there..
Oct last year the trails were really ideal... Little bit wet... Now in Feb it was a Mud bath...
and this past NOAS run in May.. it was bone dry... dusty

Each time we have had some stock X's with us.. even a 2wd in May.. All did really well..

#22 is a good one for the stockers though and it has a good mix of mud, rocks and hill climbs. Maybe do it at the end of the day in reverse. :)

I definitely plan on taking you guys on a few I hit with the NOAS moderate/difficult group during the NOAS run. Found a couple of really good trails that should be stock friendly for the most part. #16 on the other hand... that will be reserved for those of us who don't mind a few dings and scratches and have the meats to climb all the hills. If it's sloppy, that will be one VERY hairy trail.

I would be up for camping for sure. Friday night would be better for me since that is when I normally make the drive up there and I usually come home Saturday night. But if the group at large wants to do it Saturday night then I could probably just camp both nights too.

I would imagine we might end up breaking into three groups if the numbers keep growing. David you've been trail leader on the stock group enough. It's time for you to venture out into the rest of the park. :D I'm sure Luke could lead a group if he wants to but I bet he will want to try something new as well. That stock loop we always run down in the southwest area is easy to navigate so if anyone that even has minimal knowledge of the park can lead that one.

Sean if you bring the yota then you are definitely with us. We may venture into some stuff that your winch could be quite handy. :)

Pee wee if you do 22 you will love it..its just enough easy.. but has some small rock climbs... Its all how hard you want there

How long is 22?

Right at 6 miles. Takes about 2 to 2 1/2 hours to get through. Depending on conditions and atv traffic, it could take a little longer.

I gotcha. How extreme are the trails you guys plan on riding, Drake?

It will really depend on the conditions. Heavy rains can turn some of the moderate trails like #16 into very difficult trails. I don't plan on hitting any trails beyond the "difficult" rating but that is a pretty vague rating system there. I've hit some rated as difficult that were more like moderates and I've hit some rated difficult that I just flat out didn't have any business on. :D

If it's really wet and sloppy, I will probably stick to the moderate rated trails because even a few of those have some good gnarly sections to play on. From what I've run there, the difficult trails pose mainly clearance issues for us. Most all of the trails are relatively wide enough and banked enough to keep most trees from coming into play and better yet, into contact with your rig. :)

Between myself, David and Sean, we have enough experience with that park that we will be able to decide on trails to hit pretty quickly so when the group gathers that morning and we see who is willing to do what, it won't take long for us to come up with a game plan for each group.

I catch what you're throwing at me. I will just have to wait until I get there and see what you guys think I can run with the given conditions. I have never been there and wasn't sure how the ratings on the trails were. I'm excited about this.

I think you'll be fine. I led a group two years ago and one of them was in a stock frontier on basically street tires and he managed most of the trails that day pretty well. I say well... he didn't need to be strapped up. He had a few "clinch moments" when sliding around but he never got stuck. :)

i know the park fairly well from the ATVer perspective, so i imagine that if worse came to worse i could probably lead a stocker group. drbandkgb, i will probably have a lifted fj with me there. it will be my dad driving it. you are welcome to check it out. and tommyboy, i will have some terra grapplers with some tread left be the run if you want to run those. they are quite a bit better off road then the ones that you are rockin right now

I always go up the Friday before a run. I usually get there around 9:00 p.m. I leave straight from work and head up there and it takes me about 4 hours plus the time change. If it isn't a flood, I normally camp at the campgrounds that are right down the road from the park entrance. I think it's like $10 a night and they have showers and stuff on-site. Anybody else interested in doing so, I can call ahead and get them to reserve a few spots together so we can stay in a group.

I'm coming from Huntsville. I go up I-565/Hwy. 72 to Chattanooga then turn north on I-75 for a ways before I turn off onto a smaller highway in "God's country". lol

Does he need to convoy? It's been so long since I've driven from Auburn to anywhere (former student), I can't remember the routes he might take. I could meet him in Chattanooga and go from there if he needs to.

Very nice. I have been trying to talk a few guys from my area into going but have only gotten one of my friends who is interested in going. He has a Cherokee with a 3" lift and 31's. He will probably run the same stuff I end up running.

I'm in a predicament fellas. I've been committed to this since the word go... that was until last night and now I'm truly torn. Just found out at my local club's meeting that for that weekend some members have planned a 3-day wheeling trip. And when I say 3-day I mean we will be wheeling 3 straight days. After coordinating with several land owners, they have a route planned out that will take us from Huntsville, AL up to Estill Fork/Iron Gap Tennessee almost 100% offroad! This is the first time they've done something like this.

What would you guys do? You all know how I love Coal Creek but man... this is tough. I should have skipped last night's meeting. lol

I had two guys interested from my local club but with this state-to-state trip planned that weekend, it appears they are going to do that one instead. Funny thing is we are trying to coordinate with someone who has a farm fuel tanker truck to meet us around the halfway point so that we can refuel. I'm sure I can make it but some of these big block jeeps and crawlers will be running on fumes by then. lol

I'm really gonna hate missing this huge gathering but I'm not sure if something like this will ever come around again. Because of hunting seasons, we only have two weekends possible where we can cross some of the private lands that are owned by hunting clubs. This might be the closest thing I get to comparing to the guys out west who can wheel for days on trails. We don't have many options like that around here.
