Took a ride over Brown Mountain and then up Mason Hill over the weekend with my neighbor and his cousin. Most of it was really mild, a couple mediocre spots but the climb up Mason Hill was awesome. Trail leader in a stockish Cherokee had a heck of a time getting up. A couple spots he hit step ups in second gear and litertally bounced over them. The Samurai in the group pretty much just crawled up. I crawled most of it, but did have to moss it a few times to make the step ups, but no bouncing like the guy in the $400 Jeep.

Brown Mtn is a class IV road and Mason Hill is also on the map as a class IV rd but is not passable without a modified 4X4, or at least a fairly capable stock one that you don't give a shit about :)

Here are some pics.. Only a couple of my X, my neighbor took pictures as well and he has more of me. I'll post those when I get them from him.

My X has the AC Articulator suspension. That includes UCA's, SwayAway T-Bars, 3 pack AAL, Revolver Shackles & Bil 5100's all around. Wheels are Cragar Soft 8, 16 x 8, 5" Backspace and the tires are Fierce Attitude MT 265/75/16. They measure 31.9" tall. No body lift.

nice pics.. that is some nasty looking mud... We don't really have any mud areas out here in So Cal.

The mud really isn't that bad. It's got a good hard bottom, can walk right through it.. But it's always fun to throw some mud, even if you don't HAVE to. :)

Yeah, those little Sami's are impressive on the trail. If the trail ends they can just weave in and out of the trees.. We measured my neighbors Sami against my Cub Cadet Volunteer and the Sami is 2 inches longer and 2 inches wider and about 200lbs heavier.

They actually used my trailer I use for the Cub Cadet to go pick up a parts rig.
