Hi All:
Been reading all the great info on this forum. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to share their knowledge and expertise for us noobs.
I live in upstate NY and I have a 2000 X XE 4WD (V6, 3.3L). I've had it since it was brand new but am just getting into mod'ing it. It's Denim Blue with 135,000 miles. It's in pretty good condition.
So far it is completely stock, 265/70R15s with allow wheels. I removed the step rails and mud flaps and definitely think it is an improvement in looks (and clearance - the undersides of the step rails were all beat up).
I will be doing a PML next week as well as putting Bilstein's on front and back (the 3" lift ones from AC). Also arriving soon will be my IAB.
Plans for the future include some cheap aesthetic stuff like painting the bumpers, grill, and trim (thinking about using black "rubberized" paint), some less cheap upgrades include new skid plates and sliders, then once my tires wear out I will do a 2" BL and put 33's under her (probably Duratracs)! That is what I'm really excited about (with steel wheels instead of the stock alloys).
Luckily I have a mechanically-inclined friend that has a lift in his garage at home so all the work should be relatively easy and fun. I'm looking forward to learning more about mod'ing as well as X maintenance in general.
One of my ultimate goals is to design and fabricate my own bumpers (post-BL). I've been dreaming up some concepts. Once I get things rolling, I'll post some drawings to see if anyone wants to give feedback on here.
Happy mod'ing!
