Where are favorite trails in So Cal? And how often do all you So Cal people hit the trails?

I'm curious how many X's are really hitting the trails out there since I have only seen Jeeps out there.

In SoCal, they hit the streets with poser trucks and flat billed hats. They cruise the boulevard shirtless, and drink Monster energy drinks.

+1 on the Jeeps.

So far my faves are Gohler Wash in Death Valley and the Mojave Trail. The back of Big Bear (N.E.) is pretty nice. But there's so much space out here that I know I'm just scratching the surface.

Hey! I resemble that remark.

I almost fell off the couch. So true but there are a few that are not complete flat billers, some just have a touch and are true off roaders!

I have heard people talk a lot about Big Bear... when is the right time of year to check that place out? Are there some easy trails to start out on? I think that is a place with a lot of rocky areas right????

LOL, Yeah I am a CA native and spent 18 years in the Bay Area, and 6 in SD in the Navy, so I am allowed to make that statement.. You have a bit of travelling to go anywhere trail worthy for sure.

Been out a few times to Stoddard near Barstow but not with Off-roading in mind but a bit of trail riding is required to do what I do there.

The big places for the Yuts around here seem to be Ocotillo Wells (really rocky) and I guess they also go to Anzio Borrego park. Never been to either so I can't tell you how they are.

Yea Ocotillo Wells can be pretty rocky in some spots, I've rode my motocycle out there and gone in my bf tuck out there as well as Borrego.. in the washes n stuff.

Theres never a bad time to go roading on Big Bear. Only thing to be aware of are some trails get closed because of snow, and those that don't get closed may or may not be passable in winter. Here's some pix of my last Big Bear trip (http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/showthread.php?t=16192&highlight=bear). As you can see, the terrain is quite varied and offers a little something for all tastes. Check out the pix Crash_Trax posted at the bottom of the tread, they're really nice.

And here's my Mojave Trail pix thread (http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/showthread.php?t=11384&highlight=mojave). The terrain was more uniform, but due to the length of the trail it had more of an epic feel to it.
