hello,
thanks to all for timing belt posts. I just finished the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, and hoses on my wife's 03' xterra. PITA but not too complex. i could probably do it half the time if i did it again

Nope, but I tell you, I wouldn't do it for free! I've put 300 miles on the new timing belt and all is still good. the funny thing was on the maiden voyage i drove to autozone to return the harmonic balancer puller. I came out got in the car tried to start it and then.....nothing. i thought i screwed up and the engine was now toast. turns out the battery which was 3 years old was dead. i never had a battery die on me at a auto part store before. kinda lucky i guess. my first reaction though was, " what have I done wrong?"

damn battery. 3 years is pretty descent, mine just went out today after work. it bought my x in july of '08 so it's less than two years old. damn arizona heat.
