When I had my Ford Explorer I used to look into a website called "Serious Explorations", which was part forum, part gallery, devoted to that vehicle. Part of the website involved step-by-step guides as to installing shocks, installing push rods, replacing brakes, etc, and this also included photographs.
I would like to see the same thing here.

i think it's a great idea. guys on the forum here are always posting pics and how to's when they do something on their rig, why not just have a whole section just for write ups- it'll make it much easier to find info when you're looking for it

This is the website, Serious Explorations, and if you down on the left side, there's a column called "Quick Tips", which has the how-to thing I suggested. The people that did this page got the idea right, and it can work here.

Before I bought the Xterra just a few weeks ago, I had hoped to repair my Explorer, and I had ordered parts catalogues from LMC. One of the things LMC did to illustrate these catalogues was to break down the engine, the transmission, the brakes, etc, and not only did you have specific parts illustrated for a particular model, but a schematic as to what goes where.
If someone begins a first entry for this subject, then it could be written in a step-by-step fashion, with photographs he's taken, plus that schematic and the names and numbers of parts required. Plus this concept could be further divided here in a way similar to a "Chilton's" book, i.e. a chapter on the engine, one on the tranny, on on the body, one on dress-up parts, and so on.
