first a little background:

I joinrd this forum a couple of years ago when I bought an 08 SE. Loved that truck. Took it in for an oil change about a month ago and drove home in a new Offroad.

Really love this truck. It's the truck I wanted when I got the 08, but I couldn't find one.

So now we're planning a trip out to Big Bend park in southwest Texas. We've been there several times but it was on motorcyles. Never been off road there.

While reading about the park I find that the trails there run from 2WD easy to pretty tough on an experienced 4WD driver if it rains. Also, if you have trouble you are on your on. The Rangers try to make a complete round on all trails about once a week. It's very isolated there!

So now I'm thinking about lifting my truck to help with approach and exit angles and for more ground clearance @ the frame for crossings, rocks and such.

I've read all i can here, searched the archives and just generally tried to get educated about the upcoming project.

I'm coming to this collective wealth of knowlege to have you guys look over my choice of parts.

I plan to use the PRG advanced coilover kit and add revolver shackels. Also plan to use Shrockworks Sliders.

Does anyone here run this set-up?
How is the ride on-road....off-road?

Thanks
Skid

You could check the next generation its a site that is everything 2nd gen xterra those guys will know more about it than i do.

IMHO, those coilover kits are awesome for adding more travel and articulation but since I spend more time on rocks and in woods rather than speeding through the desert, I like having more height to clear obstacles and keep from bottoming out or scraping the bumpers.

If I had an Xterra, I'd get the Calmini 5" Suspension Lift with the Sway-A-Way Coilovers.. That's pretty much the same as the setup I have on my Armada and it's really great for getting through the rough stuff. For me, I removed my front Sway Bar after installing the Sway-A-Ways and my onroad ride smoothed out alot while adding more offroad independant articulation.
