Everybody talks about the bilstein 5100's and the bilstein HDs, however, I looked on 4x4parts.com and it listed the 5100s and HDs as the same. They have the 5150s though with 10 inches of travel.

What is better and what is the difference?

Jason you have the Bilstein HD? The ones on www.spencerlowracing.com under Bilstein 5100? I just want to know because I need to get my shocks replace. By the way, I haven't installed those shackles yet but I will once I get new shocks!

i for sure hav ethe HD ones on my X, i love em, iand i know for a fact that they make them for non-lifted trucks as well as lifted trucks.

IMO shocks are pie to replace on the X, the easiest suspension component to replace

Yea, I just need to figure out exactly what shocks to get. I'm not to keen on all this fancy truck speak. I just saw some on spencerlowracing.com for $60 per front shock, then the rear shock had several options I had no idea about.

well, its fairly easy, you really dont have to unbolt anything but the shocks themselves in the front(i think), ive never changed the shocks on a xterra without doing a suspension lift at the same time.

in the rear you may need to disconnect the sway-bar(the thick rod running along the axle and up to the body), then the sme procedure, f the front, undo the nust/bolts, put the new one on, of course you have to jack the turck up to get the shocks in and out, if they are compressed you will have one hell of a time trying to get them on and off, both json3904 and i have the factory service manual in PDF form on our home computers, but my home internet is out at the moment and im at work anyway.
ill pm you my cell number, you can call me after 6pm central time if you get stuck or have questions during the install
