whats so special about the Exterra?......why are they so widely acclaimed as the best nissan ever?

i got a 86 ford f250 now its a piece im looking at them exterras and them 4Runners......and need some advice and expert opinions on which one I should buy.......

what are your plans with the XTERRA?

Lift it? Wheel it?, Mall Crawl it?, Put Pink Sliders on it?, Drink and Drive in it?

All these things will help in giving you info on what may appeal to you.

And hey, the Xterra even has room to store LOTS OF BEER !!!!!!!!!!!!!

What year range Xterra are you looking at? They didn't make a 86 model, sorry... so you will have to pick from what they did make... 00-04 or 05-07... there are lots of differances in these models, including what engine/transmission they used... what suspensions are avaialable...

If i where me, i would get a Xterra over the 4bangerrunner thingy that toyota offers anyday... but i'm not me... so i cain't tell you what to do.

Good luck with your hunt for a rig.. and no, i don't believe they have any gun racks available for the Xterra yet..

i own both a 4runner and an xterra, im always on the xterra boards, and im always on yotatech. ive done a fucking bargeload of reading on both my vehicles.

for one, my toyota has 253k on it, still runs like a champ.

you you plan for it really depends on what id recommend to you, if you are gonna mod it, i say go with the runner, aftermarket parts are cheaper, there are more places to buy from and bc of this the runner has far more potential without fabbing parts.
also a previous generation of runner(84 and earlier) had solid front axles

the xterra however is much more mannered on the road from what i see.
the xterra is also much more versatile, if you go camping, to the beach, hiking, skiing, stuff like that the xterra is your truck, if you want just a daily driver, the xterra is your truck.

I've changed my mind... Get the 84 4Runner with solid axle, and a removable top... THAT WOULD BE AWESOME...

I wish they had those options on something newer, i would trade my truck in for that...

AND ITS STILL SPELLED "XTERRA"

the sas kits for the runners are way cheaper, than for the X, and its leaf sprung which makes it even more cost effective, and there are multiple manufacturers of them.

the 85 was only available with a 2.2L 4 cyl, or a turbo 2.2
better to get an 88+ with the 3.0v6 imho and do the sas

i should also note that the 3.0 is known for head gaskets going out between 150-200k miles, however this usually only has to be replaced once if done right with good parts
