Shot in the dark here, but I',m just wondering if all Xterras are pre-wired for the Rockford factory head unit- I have an opportunity to get a free head unit from my dealer, but it's gotta be factory, plug and play. Will the 6-disc unit swap in no modification needed?

IIRC they use the same plug, but the RF system feeds low level out to an OEM amp. For example, the non-amp harness to do an aftermarket head unit looks just like the amp'ed harness, but the non-amp has wires you connect to your head units speaker lines, while the amp'ed has RCA ends on the harness to plug into the low-level output from the aftermarket head unit.

The RF headunit *should* plug in (haven't seen one in a while so I really can't remember if there's any other plugs besides the main 2 radio ones), but without the factory amp you won't be able to drive your speakers with it. You may be better off getting the RF headunit from the dealership, try selling it and use the money to get a nice after market headunit to stick in

Ah, I see, thanks for the info. I think I'll do that, and see about putting the money towards a nice aftermarket setup then. Thanks!
