Hey folks,
Does anyone know if there is a quality chip or programming unit for a 2005 SE, that is worth the $ and won't result in 4.0ltr of shrapnel :)
Thanks

like said in previous posts there is no chip for the gas motor.... unloke the deisel which can be highly modded by a programer...... there is only programs that can re-map your fuel to air ratio and so on..... i think anthony and tjtj has responded to previous posts with there answers so do your research and find the old posts befor double posting on the same topic..... thanks

yea for a chip to be worth the $ you gotta have other mods around it, like an upgraded fuel system, FI would make it much more effectve, engine internals etc.
if youve got other power mods the chip can work with it will do much more for you

Thanks Ricer-X
265 at the flywheel is pretty healthy as you know. I installed a K&N CAI and a performance muffler, I'll be damn that I forgot the make as it was a spending jewel. I run 265-70R17 and she still has stout. Another 10-20HP would be just right. I saw that Nissan offers a fuel mixture unit, but I am not sure if that truly would be worth the 600$ canadian, maybe? I plan on installing the daystar 2inch leveling kit and bootin it with BFG Mud terrains @ 285- 75R16 on a diffrent rim,. That's were an extra few ponies would be beneficial.
Cheers mate,

cams, bigger cams would help, it prob wouldnt help your mpg. im not even sure if anyone makes performance cams for the new engine.
i know they make some for the vg33 that get around a 15% increase in power

Bigger tires, more horsepower, and a lift will help blow the rear diff. that much faster.

wuz up dont like the lifted look... i havent heard of the rear of the rear end going out after the lift... i have been running bigger tires for a couple of months i forgote the size but they equal 29 inches and im running 33 inch shoes on her right now with no problem

I like lifts, but several people in AZXC have had their rear diff blow up. There are quite a few people outside of Arizona who have also had rear diff problems. The common thread seems to be lifts and bigger tires.

Yea, I have seen on another site a few people have blown rear diffs. But I am also seening with the 05+ X's that the front diffs are exploding internally.

I have never confirmed what the stock gear ratio is. I suspect it is in the high 3's. I was hoping that the foriegn auto makers had above average toughness throughout the whole vehicle. I know I have had many friends go 33-35 inch skins on the mid 80's toyota's and believe it or not I have never heard of or wittnessed a grenaded diff and those puppies have pretty small housings. Although maybe I should retain the 265.70's and not go to the 285's. You have to admit 2" suspension and 33's would give the xterra a stout above average and still "clean" look. Mind you if nissan has under engineered their diffs that could make for an ugly look as your on the side of the road with puddles of gear fluid forming on the asphalt :) I suspect these failures stem from tire spin VS immediate traction events.

i dont know..... since i put the lift and tires i have seen a big diffrence on the mpg..... sometimes my girl will get up to 30 and i can get around 25-28 when it used to be i couldnt get over 20......

Ya, I think I might the 285's. I don't plan on hard core wheelin. I use to wheel hard in some older style american iron, for some reason I just don't have the failth in the electronic management system when your miles away from the closest peice of pavement or phone, ol' school I guess.
