jmartin79 04-21-2010, 12:15 PM Looking good.... You must be one of the few on the forum that still has the plastic skid plate. I ran over mine at 55mph, I had just come off the trail onto the highway when I heard the god awful sound and then saw parts flying in the rear view mirror :)
Delicious Mayhem 04-21-2010, 12:20 PM Thank You. My plastic skid has fallen off about 3 times. I keep having to screw it back on... its a pain.
Drake 04-21-2010, 12:24 PM Looks good!
People are amazed mine is still on. Honestly, I'm baffled myself at how it hasn't been torn off. You can see actual holes in it where rocks have punched through it and it's been dragged over ledges and stuff. It stands in defiance of everything I've thrown at it. Unfortunately this weekend it will be retired. I may have to hang it on the wall as a trophy. lol
peewee 04-21-2010, 12:37 PM Pedobear.
Delicious Mayhem 04-21-2010, 12:37 PM my skid is starting to crack and hang.
Delicious Mayhem 04-21-2010, 12:38 PM ill be removing it soon
jmartin79 04-21-2010, 12:41 PM Maybe we need a "How did you lose your plastic skid" thread...
Delicious Mayhem 04-21-2010, 12:47 PM I think so to... lol
Looks good!

How did you attach yours after the BL. Don't the frame horns get in your way?
Drake 04-21-2010, 12:52 PM I'll have to look and see. I don't even remember it's been so long ago.
Sorry to jack Mayhem! :)
TimRich 04-21-2010, 12:54 PM Looks good man!
Delicious Mayhem 04-21-2010, 01:03 PM Thanks Again! and no prob Drake lol
Delicious Mayhem 06-12-2010, 10:08 AM I have been slowly working on some Xterra mods whenever I get cash to spare.
Just Installed a budget light bar.
http://i49.tinypic.com/w2lf6s.jpg
I cant get the thing to stop bouncing all over every time i hit a bump,
so I decided on using budgie cords for now. If anyone has an idea for a cleaner look that would be great, I'm looking for suggestions.

Other than the light bar I've only did some other small mods.
I cut the shovel on my roof smaller and added a different handle.

I also through a jerry can on top of the safari basket
http://i45.tinypic.com/142c7kh.jpg
Step Rails and Mud Flaps removed

LostX 06-12-2010, 10:11 AM take it off and hammer it back from the inside. get a big hammer because thats some thick steel
Delicious Mayhem 06-12-2010, 12:06 PM You think something like a big rubber mallet would work?
Snow Chaser 06-12-2010, 12:13 PM Nope, rubber mallets are of the devil.
Get a serious hammer.
Delicious Mayhem 06-12-2010, 12:19 PM i have a smaller hand held sludge hammer, that should do the trick.
Delicious Mayhem 12-08-2010, 02:07 PM update 2" BL complete

drbandkgb 12-08-2010, 02:15 PM Looking great man... Did you ever get your lightbar to stop bouncing?
Delicious Mayhem 12-08-2010, 02:18 PM i never got it to stop, i ended up removing them because it was getting annoying and because the lights and light bar started to rust on certain parts.
drbandkgb 12-08-2010, 02:23 PM IF you would have doubled the metal up you would have been ok... or used a thicker metal
Delicious Mayhem 12-08-2010, 02:27 PM I'm planning on remaking the light bar again, using thicker metal, I also want to get better lights instead of the Baja Desert Fox ones i had before from walmart.
Delicious Mayhem 04-11-2012, 03:21 PM It been a long time since I last updated my build.
In the past 2 year I've been through 3 sets of tires, I started out with brand new 265/70/17 Hankook Dynapro M/T's. Had them on for about 10 months, installed a 2" BL and then made the decision to get 285/70/17. I couldn't afford a new set, so ended up finding and buying used 285/70/17 Hankook Dynapro M/Ts. The tires had less the 50% but couldn't pass up the offer.
The last set of tires having almost no tread left, I went out and purchased NEW (to me) aka used 265/70/17sEldorado Spot MTZ. I decided to downgrade, because the 285/70/17 seem to be an oddball size, since I wasn't able to find any used the 2nd time around.
Used 265/70/17 Eldorado Spot MTZ.

From what I have read, The Eldorado Sport MTZ is made by Cooper, and is the same tread patter as the Cooper Mud Claw.

I don't think the 265/70/17 look that bad with a 2" BL
http://i39.tinypic.com/124ew5h.jpg
Compared to my old 285/70/17 Dynapro spare.
http://i43.tinypic.com/suypas.jpg
In the last month I have also made 2 pretty good Craigslist finds
A FREE brush guard
http://i41.tinypic.com/2ij0k1f.jpg
A used 285/70/17 Firestone Destination M/T, not bad for $10
Im going to be using it as my new spare, since my current spare has almost no tread left.
