im up in the summerlin/nw area, wanted to say hello

New to the Xclub, just picked up my 2011 Pro-4x last night. I live up near Aliante, but am not new to wheelin' or Nissans. Just got rid of my beloved WD21 Pathfinder. I lincoln locked the front diff on that bad boy and I could keep up with 9 of 10 obstacles the modified Heeps could do. I am pretty active with Jeep guys but would love to spearhead getting an active "X" club here in Vegas. I like to go camping and wheel, although I doubt I will be rockcrawling with the X too much as I bought it more for a family camping rig to take to places like the AZ strip. My name is Mark for anyone that wants to respond.

An "X" club here in Vegas would be nice, I have an 08' Xterra that i got purely for a dog sport wagon haha..my border collie plays flyball/agility and we travel to the nearby states for tournaments so i needed something to haul dog crates and camping gear..and one day pull a tent trailer. It's only a 2WD so i know i won't be climbing or wheelin much but i still like to be outdoors. I live in the old part of summerlin, the slums of the nortwest i guess haha and i'm Jennifer.

mark jennifer nice to meet you both, im Tim. i love the LV ClubX idea, i also have a 2WD so no crazy rock climbing, I have mine setup for the street/daily driver. i am an avid camper and a distance runner, and up for any adventures.

I would love to see more LV X owners gather even if its a modest "get to know your X" trail. There are some in the southwest near mountain's edge, a fun trail just before the pass to Pahrump and of course the Red Rock trails (Park entry fee). I would love to learn from the guys that are more experienced off road drivers.

I have to remind myself that there are a lot of X's out there that aren't 4wd. None the less even the 2wd ones as long as they haven't been lowered can do a number of local trails. The trail up and over Wheeler's pass i did in my Pathfinder in 2hi. Although it is probably covered up with snow already. I am optimistic about the terrible gas mileage people talk about with the thirsty 4.0L. I used to get 17 mpg combined in the Pathy and I beat that thing like a red headed step child.

jackal hows the yellow top
I like it alot. I have wanted to upgrade to that for some time but waited until my duralast aged.
I like red rock alot, too. Did you see on the news about those punks that graffitti'd the area the other day? #***king @$$#0!e$ As for the 2WD Xterras, there are still some trails that we can all try out together. Like I said, a modest trail as an icebreaker would be good. I am still running stock height with larger tires and won't be getting lifted until april. If anything it would be good to get together and check out each others rides and mod aspirations.

Sound System questions :) So i am wanting to get some new speakers and new radio installed. Anyone know of a good place to get it done? Also what would be a good set up? I do not want to have a sub and amp, because i have no room and i am not looking to spend alot of money one it. I am just looking to upgrade the stock door speakers and tweets. I don't know much about this stuff so any help is appreciated

what i had put in is pretty much exactly what you want done...
i went to SS Audio which is on Lindell and Spring Mountain. They are going to cost a little bit more than like the chain places (i think audio express?) but they are pros...they put in JVC deck w/ Sirius new JBL door and rear and JBL tweets...it has been a while since i had it done so im unsure of the total cost (250ish?). but for that i had it done properly and quickly, plus they added a manual reset/kill switch in a hidden spot as well..the guy you want to talk to is Mike, call ahead and see what they can offer you for your own budget.

I may have "accidentally" blazed through a large, deep puddle that white Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer edition was tippy-toeing through. :awesome:

It's not-so-white anymore.

New Pro 4x owner in north lv. Traded in my beloved lancer evolution for the xterra and dont regret it one bit.

Just wanted to say hello.

Lancer to a X, that's a helluva an upgrade! I am up here in Northtown as well, with a Pro-4X. I already put some Shrockworks skids on it as the factory skids leave much to be desired! There is talk of a couple of us heading up to Death Valley for a couple of mild trails, well mild to us offroaders! I wanted to go this weekend as the weather is supposed to be delightful this weekend, but most people want to go next Saturday. This will be an all day trip and all are invited. I will say that this definitely is limited to 4wd X's only. I wouldn't expect any vehicle damage body wise, but skids might see a little bit of a workout if you drive with a heavy right foot. Let me know if anyone is interested.

How is the trail on ft apache and warm springs? is it mostly level all the way through?

Im looking to go out this weekend with my bro who just got a new frontier pro 4 x....are there any other trails that are relatively close by in town?

Thanks :-)

I was hoping to get my X aligned Friday then go wheeling at Red Rock or even the road on the 160 west of Mountain's Edge. It would be cool to get a few of us together.

Hello fellow Vegas X's,

I just have a quick question, i have a 2wd X, i want to get a hitch for it, i already know i want the Valley one, since it has the highest weight rating of 5000lbs. I am planning on getting a pop up camper or ultra lite travel trailer later this summer so i have to have a hitch with more then 4000 pull weight. I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere in town that sells them and puts them on as i am not very mechanically inclined to put it on myself especially the wiring harness/relay thing i have to get haha. I can get the hitch from etrailers.com but i still don't know of where i could get it put on, i do not want to go through the dealer because they want to charge me almost 600 for the hitch, and service.

Thanks everyone

I bought mine from uhaul as they were the least expensive hitch. I know you said you want a valley, but uhaul makes and installs an ass load of hitches. Plus they have locations everywhere. Just my $.02.

Just wanted to say what's up to everyone in Vegas. I'm new to the site and I used to live in LV. I'm living near Laughlin now, but I'm down to meet up and give our Xs a workout in the dirt if anyone's interested. I drive a black 2000 X SE 4wd 3.3L... Lots of mods to come, as mine is stock right now and the mod bug has bitten me bigtime. Name's Brandon, by the way...

Hey ssgt davis, you ever get your system installed? If you or anyone else here needs their system installed (wiring amps, head unit, speaker box, etc) I can help out. Just PM me. If you are cautious I can show you my system so you can be assured quality installation.

And when we all gonna get together? It's freaking summer already!

Im here in Vegas. There is a group of us here but the guys I know hangout on thenewx.org. they are all 2nd gens and one 1st gen that I know. We usually get together once every two months do to schedule conflicts and get a trail run in. Granted we usually do some pretty technical stuff. The majority of the trails we do or have done are Nelsons, Ti Rod Canyon, Potato Ridge, Angel Peak Loop, and were about to try Devils Peak and maybe Logandale again. All of those require 4 wheel. I saw someone mentioned 4 wheelers pass earlier and I believe that trail is closed at the moment due to a difference of opinion on land ownership between a local cold creek citizen and clark county. The group I know knows most trails so feel free to let me know if you wanna go/ride along or even meet for a small gathering and we can talk about setting up an Xterra/Nissan club for Nevada or the Vegas area.

Nick

So when is the next trip and how intense are the trails? Is body damage expected?

We are going the Sunday of thanksgiving weekend. Devils peak from the pics looks like sliders are suggested. I have done all the trails around here except that one and made it thru with no sliders. As long as you have some experience you should ne fine and the ones that are going with have lots of experience with spotting and me and another guy have been thru moab. The first gen is more capable the 2nd and the buddy sits higher. Your more than likely gonna hit your frame a lot cause that's what I do. Ill be sure to post up the details as it gets closer.

Wow I didn't realize there were that many people in vegas with X's interested in wheeling! My name is nick and I've wheeled most of the trails around vegas. We are planning on wheeling the weekend of thanksgiving and here are the details:

Looks like Devil's Peak + Tie Rod backwards is going to be the best bet, so we will meet at the AM/PM at the M Resort off St. Rose and I-15. Meeting time will be 8:30 am

We have never done Devil's peak before but from my research body damage is NOT expected. If you have never wheeled before I would say this probably is not the trip to jump in on but if you have been out a few times and have a lift you should be fine. We are pretty laid back and don't mind going slow over the obstacles so we can spot for you.

Here is the link to more info:

Maybe we should also plan a blue diamond run in the near future to get everyone out.
