WHAT KIND OF AMP DO YOU HAVE.
if you have a low quality amp or low quality wires then that would be a really good place to start, there are reasons them cables get so expensive

i have a power acoustic amp and the wires i got were from circuit city. i forgot the brand though. i know theyre not jvc wires or monster.

I CANT COMMENT AON THE AMP, i have no experience with power accoustic.
but from my experience wires are the cause of interference and the amp is the cause of distortion, i personally think its your wires. did you have ti installed or did you do it yourself?

what you are hearing is engine/ground noise- essentially the motor is causing a small radio signal when it spins (those physics classes are coming in handy THANKS WAKE!) no, but seriously you can go to walmart of CC and get a (dont qoute me) some type of noise canceling piece for about 10 bucks.

or USE wires that are shielded better.....but just go to walmart

i bet you rant the rca jacks and the power wire together.... if so the where they are touching it is tranfering the engine noise to the amp.... i have done alot of installs and i always run the rca's on one side of the car and the power and remote on the other.... if you do that you shouldnt have that problem.... good luck....
