well im in law enforcement and i wanted to put a wig wag relay on my xterra but i have HID's so i was wondering if that would cause any problems such as burning out the light or anything... i could just buy a mini l.e.d lightbar to put in the grill but i love the wig wag look

I don't think it hurts the hi beam, but it will be hard finding all the right wires unless you have a crown vic or impala, seems like everything is designed for them.....

you can buy wig wag kits anywere its basically a box (relay) that you hook up to the headlight wires and to a switch (for me the hazards probly) and your set its not too complicated but my HIDS dont have a high beam they are just bright as sh!t .. anyone know why they are brighter the first second you turn them on? and does the high beam positive wire carry more power than the low beam?

Most likely this would burn out your hids. They all say specifically not to turn them on and off rapidly. They are brighter when coming on because they have to warm up to the correct color temp. I don't imagine that the high is more power, just more wattage can be pulled through it.

it would work only if you had bixenon projectors and your lights would have to be on. other wise you would be replaceing bulbs all the time

I thought they used special lights for those....another bulb mounted in the existing housing. From what I vaguely recall don't they use strobe lights?

I could be completely wrong....

some use strobes but most police cars use the headlight bulb....... that is the reason all police cars have the halogen lights...... no hids....
