Front doors: Makes cranking noise while the rear doors sounds better when slammed.

I hear a cranky noise when I start the car. The "Service engine soon" indicator comes up continously. Engine oil and transmission oils have been replaced. Someone advised checking the oil pump. How true could that be?

I saw a crack on the left size around the engine body area. The part had already been filled to cover up a crack by the original owner. I have also called someone to cover the new cracks along the same area the owner mended.

Please advise I hope I have not wasted my money. Though the car is still working. I'm scared the engine could knock any moment because of all this observation.

It's been a week now the engine oil and oil filter was changed. What should I do. I was contemplating changing the oil again with a Mobil ONE engine oil and changing the oil filter again. I dont know how the oil pump looks like. So I dont know whether it is advisable to change it.

The Car hums when started and while driving it takes a while before it selects a new gear. Please help I am confused.

I do not under stand what you mean, except maybe you need to lube the hinges?

I am wondering if the work CREAKY is what you mean for all these times you are saying CRANKY? Maybe a squeaking noise when you are starting, like a belt slipping? - May need to tighten, or change, the belts?

There are code readers, devices that plug into the OBD port, that can tell you what the engine codes MEAN.
I have not heard of an oil pump failure as a common problem, but, a pressure check can be done...but I would not bother until I saw if any of the codes indicated it was an issue. (Check the engine CODES first, and see WHY the engine light is on in the first place)

I am not sure where you mean....Do you mean the engine has cracks on the block, or somewhere else on the ENGINE....or do you mean on the truck body, in the engine BAY but not on the ENGINE?
It makes an ENORMOUS difference.

Please, have the codes read, and see what's actually going on....it will save a LOT of random guessing/time.

That sir, would be your exhaust manifold. It is a common issue with these trucks. If the patch is holding, it should be fine.

Thanks swordfish. Now I am feeling comfortable. But do you think that was a neat job. Can u advise on what more I can do to make it better if any.

Thank you.
