: Building a Better Backpackonwheels
FL Backpackonwheels 03-19-2010, 07:58 PM So I've done a few things to the ol' Backpackonwheels and decided it was time for a build thread.
The plastics and bumpers looked baaaad; bleached out by the sun. After researching it on here, I decided to paint the plastics:

BigDog107 05-09-2010, 09:15 PM how much did those run?
RumbleBeeX 05-09-2010, 09:21 PM how hard is to take off all the bumpers and how long did it take you when you painted everything black?
FL Backpackonwheels 05-10-2010, 06:11 AM how much did those run?
$75 ($25 + $50 shipping) off of eBay, they came with light bulbs too. I'll probably replace with PIAA or Sylvania in the future.

It wasn't hard per se as much as it was time consuming. I took everything off and cleaned it one weekend then painted and reassembled the next weekend. Others on here have done the whole deal in one weekend. I highly recommend going by the FSM body trim section if you plan to do this. The FSM link to the Nico forums is posted on here somewhere. The results are well worth the effort.
TimRich 05-10-2010, 06:31 AM Those look good Rich! I was thinking of getting those but I wasn't sure how well they would hold up to the weather. If yours do well I may pick up a set...
FL Backpackonwheels 05-10-2010, 06:01 PM Thanks Tim. I'll be curious to see how they hold up too.
FL Backpackonwheels 05-30-2010, 06:36 PM Drove for the first time at night with the new headlights; discovered I need to aim them as they are a little low. They are definitely brighter than the diffuser lens and seem "whiter" too. Light pattern is different.
doohic722 05-30-2010, 07:30 PM look'n real good, glad to see you got a build thread going!

On the 2001 X, the section is called "BT".
