: Heep TJ BL
tameroflions 03-11-2010, 08:53 PM my buddy has an 03 Jeep that has a BL in it, the truck is a piece of crap and he treats it like such. he realized the other day that there are actually only like 1 or 2 bolts holding the chassis on the body....so he wants to redo the entire BL.
so im trying to find out what the bolt sizes and thread measurements he'd need and what pucks and everything he needs for a DIY Heep BL. i've been trying to find it but cant find anything. i figure yall w/ your ninja powers will have a swift answer for me shortly. i look forward to seeing what you find.
:wink-big:
miskywhisky 03-11-2010, 09:03 PM specific model would help.
tameroflions 03-11-2010, 09:05 PM 03 TJ Sport. V6. 4x4. automatic.
(the TJ was in the title, i forgot that i didnt actaully put it in the message, my bad)
Drake 03-12-2010, 07:03 AM If I were him I would toss the body lift altogether. Jeeps have a tendency to rust around the body mounts and with their narrow body mounts, they can punch through the body.
If he's dead set on keeping it, I'll see what I can dig up if nobody else can answer.
The TJ's are not as bad as a lot of the earlier models.
I'd say to just go with something like this:

As I've always had great luck with JKS stuff.
Do inspect the mounts to be sure they're intact obviously, and POR15 and top coat them after shoring them up if applicable.
You'll need to do that even if you don't do a BL, just to have the OEM mounts have a ghost of a chance of lasting, etc.
:D
i did a body lift on a TJ a few years a go, huge pain in the ass...the transfer case linkage has to be extended, radiator has to drop....ughh have fun

Obviously, he already DID the BL, his bolts just rusted out or something.
:D

didn't have my coffee yet
:)
x-roop 03-12-2010, 08:58 AM i know on a yj wrangler you can use standard size hockey pucks with a hole drilled through them as the lift pucks. cheaper than normal... old yj owner here.

Same with the CJ's.
Wheeled all of them at one point. (have a JK now...)

tameroflions 03-12-2010, 03:24 PM yea, its already got the BL in, he just wants to redo the pucks and bolts.
all i need are the size of the bolts and pucks, anybody got that by any chance?
i dont know how he managed it but non of the bolts are in the truck anymore so he wants to just redo the entire thing. this truck is a piece and he doesnt take care of it at all. he's dead set on keeping in the BL tho.

the lengths of the bolts and size pucks are going to be dependent on the hight of the bl. any idea?
