I know this has been posted before, but I'm thrilled that my X can easily hold a double sized air mattress. Gonna be great for camping this weekend!

Nice! Now show us the picture with all the gear too.
That's been my biggest hurdle going from a full sized pickup bed with a nice topper to the inside of the X.
During my last trip the old dome tent pretty much gave up the ghost so next time out I'm bunking in the rig. Hopefully threads like yours will give me some inspiration.

I just put all the gear on top in rubbermaids and strap them down when the camp is set up! The real advantage to this setup is you can park anywhere in a city and make camp
too much crap in my cargo area to do that, i just lay on the backseat in the fetal position

I camp in my xterra as well and it also easily fits a full sizw air mattress as well. Warm, dry and protected. Allows me to do snow camping in the winter while my friends are freezing in there tents beacause they all own trucks

Been doing it that way for a few years with a twin air mattress. Got to up here cause you never know when its gonna start raining. Plus its warmer and provides better protection from drunken animals and wildlife.

drunken animals and wildlife.
Can't tell you how many run ins I've had with bears who had just a few too many shots of Jack ;)

The only problem i ran into was that the damned mattress was leaky! I was basically lying on the floor 2 hours in.

I hate when the pestering drunk bears hang off my shoulder repeating "I love you man.." at least I can crawl in my truck and lock the doors for solitude!

They keep hitting you with their rack, saying "I'm sorry" and stuff...
