Hello Everyone! Great site. I have 10 YO Xterra and love it. I want to keep it longer but have to put some work in it. Did anybody replaced a hood? Mine is eaten by rust.

Hello Mike,
Your car looks like new. Mine has got a big hole in a hood. I guess we didn't wash the salt off often enough.

Don't worry to much about salt down here. Have you tried looking on ebay or craigslist? I have seen them on ebay. Someone else thank of anywhere else to look?

Hmm...i was thinking about buying a new hood. Didn't occur to me that there is a second hand market for parts. I will definitely check it. Thank you!

Now I learned:-) Now, We wash in the winter several times and give a detailed bath in the spring but still...in the winter, by the time you come back home from the car wash you get salt sprayed well underneath.

Welcome from Ky!
Proud 10 yr old X owner myself. Don't have the salt problem here, though.
Good luck on the hood search.

Thanks Dennis! This was my idea-to do it myself. Looked easy to do (although besides replacing light bulbs I never fixed anything in a car LOL) I am also not sure how to detach the windshield liquid nozzles which are on a hood ? I will try to do it.:-)
