I have this small ding on the back of my X
it's right on the area where the first aid kit sits and it's just an eye sore...

If I pop off the rear hatch plastic do you think I could get to it? put a flat piece on it tap with a hammer and pop it out? or am I just thinking up stupid thoughts

or any other opinions on this? dont' really want to drop $150 on PDR...

also any write ups on taking off the rear plastic ?

thanks!

There is a dry ice method for hail damage that might work. Like Baf6 said youtube it.

The tailgate liner comes out real easily. I took mine off to dynamat; just look at it and you'll realize how simple it is. I think you need a screwdriver. Look behind the first aid kit for the screws.

As for the dent, just claim that a jeep lost traction and slid into you and got totaled but all you got was a tiny dent.

I had a guy do PDR on a previous car of mine where one friend pushed another friend into the quarter panel and left an assprint. For $70 it came out so good I had to look at it in the right light to see any misshapen areas. It might be worth it if you don't value battle scars like I do. (That was a car I kept looking nice, not like my X which I haven't washed since September.)

to remove the cover you need a screwdriver and a 10mm socket...

well I got under there easy 3 10mm bolts and popped all the rivets off

and went to work... didn't want to drop $ on it took a big socket wrench and a flat sheet of metal and tapped around the dent... kept going and it looks pretty damn good for free

I noticed I inverted a little part where I pushed out if that makes sense, so I just have to finish up in the day light and tap it back to line up... but it does look a lot better!

and took 10 mins

I don't mind dings on the X... I mean it's an X after all :) but it was one of those I just ALWAYS saw and got to me haha...
