Hello all. Newbie here. I am looking to downsize from my '05 Titan to an earlier model Xterra 4x4. I would expect the mileage to range anywhere from 80,000 to 115,000 in the vehicles I'll be looking at.

My question is, what kind of maintenance items or problems should I be on the look out for? I know that the timming belts, plugs & wires and transmission fluid, are usually scheduled to be changed during this timeframe. Also, are there any consistant problems with the earlier Xterra's? I have read about potential exhaust manifold cracks. Are there any others?

I am not familiar with Xterras and want to factor these things into the purchase price. I dont want to buy one at a particular price and turn around and have to spend several hundred dollars on maintenance stuff that should have been done already. I dont mind having it done myself, but I would want the price to reflect that.

Thanks in advance!

My 03 has 95,000 and as far as I know there are no manifold issues. Look for problems with the window regulators.

Aside from the usual, I can't think of anything offhand.

(The usual: check in the hard-to-clean places for mud, see how much wear the hitch receiver has on it, compression check, exhaust when started cold, etc.)
