: New Member in Maryland Needs Help

I want to replace the map lights in my 05 Xterra with Led Map lights but I need to know how to get the cover off of the map lights I know how to replace the dome light and remove it's cover I just need help with the map light

I have a 2nd gen, but havent tried this or quite frankly an not sure how to do this w/o looking in to this real seriously have you tried looking on youtube theres a few videos on there on how to replace some of the lights in the X, If I head out today I'll try to remember to take a look at this.

probably consult the chilton manual, it can pretty much tell you how to tear apart your X and Rebuild it.

ok so the chilton says to pry it off with a small screw driver, I got off my duff from watching hockey, and took a look, it looks like the covers might be on a hinge and small slots for prying on ether the far sides of the covers or the top and bottoms of the covers. I'm not a 100% sure this is just my observation. Sadly the chilton wasnt 100% helpful other than "pry it off with a small screw driver". Maybe this will help you.

you do just pry it open with a screw driver but be gentle cause it's easy to break the clips
