: my construction site photo shot, vote for your fav!
sabotage 04-07-2007, 06:10 PM hey, theres not much around where i live, but they are still doing some construction in my neighborhood so i thought id go drive around over there and take some pics while the security guy was on the other side of the hood. i know these arent as cool as some of the pics i've seen on here but this is all i have for now. i've only had my xterra for a week so i'll find some better places eventually. i'm just not sure which pics of these i like the best though, vote for your favorite!

Muzikman 04-09-2007, 01:04 AM Out of curiosity, is that your site (ie. do you work there), or were you just driving around?
sabotage 04-09-2007, 01:54 PM Out of curiosity, is that your site (ie. do you work there), or were you just driving around?
no, its the site next to my home off the road a bit in my neighborhood, hence why it was a very quick photo shot!
arterra 04-12-2007, 01:52 PM hmm..private property=bad news
1) makes off-roaders look bad
2) you can get in big doo-doo/fined royally if caught
3) dicking around on construction sites makes for more work for the ppl
working there
sabotage 04-12-2007, 05:59 PM i didnt mess anything up.....i drove where there were already tracks from the work trucks and just set up for a picture, again, where there were already tracks, not where it was smooth and level. i didnt actually move any dirt around, they would've never noticed i was there! i'm not that stupid and inconsiderate. i'm an amatur photographer, i just wanted some cool pics! thru my experience, i've found out that sometimes you have to sneak in/onto places to get the cool pics. geez, is everyone on this site so uptight!?
Muzikman 04-12-2007, 07:09 PM No, not uptight, just dedicated to their hobbies. Every day groups are finding reasons to shutdown the few legal places there are to wheel. Wheeling on construction sites gives them more ammo.
Anyway...what do you shoot? I too am into photography.

sabotage 04-12-2007, 07:20 PM just really random stuff! lol pics of the city, the port, animals, cars, historic buildings, shadows, trees and random objects. i'm currently working on a file of my favorite shots. i just got into framing. i just made my first frame, i'm about to go stain it right now actually. its an ansel adams print, of trees of course. next i want to start framing some of my own stuff. i've got the wood work down, i just suck at the matting! lol
arterra 04-13-2007, 01:24 PM I didn't mean to bust your chops, just letting you know that most avid off-road enthusiasts will tell you to stay off private property. This isn't me condemning you, just a friendly heads up.
Its better one of your cohorts tell you, than Mr rent-a-cop writing you up a fine for invasion of priv property or worse, a local "Mom's against 4x4" type group shutting down your local trail.
sabotage 04-13-2007, 02:31 PM lol, thanks! no harm done! i'm actually in a suburb of tampa and where i'm at its real country and theres a lot of trucks and its not uncommon to see people driving around on the side of the road or 4wheelers playing around in the ditches! lol i guess thats why i didnt really think anything of it!
If you're looking for honest feedback....none of them scream great picture at me...not much in the way of visual interest.
1, 4, 5, 6...1. almost looks like a wheeling shot, but the composition doesn't work for most of them...if you like Ansel Adams, try the "thirds thing".
2. Looks like a dead end, the tracks lead to a visible end...kind of a boring story.
3. Looks the closest to being better than a snapshot.
:D
I DO understand that you were rushed to get the truck parked, run out, snap off something, get back in, etc.....so don't feel too bad.
On another note - If you want to improve the readiness for impromptu wheeling...take off the mud flaps, step rails and rear sway bar.
:D
sabotage 04-16-2007, 11:39 AM thanks for the feedback! i didn't think the photos where really that good, just kind of cool, thats why i was having trouble figuring out which one i like the best bc there wasnt any one that particularly popped out at me. i'm thinking my favorites out of those are #1 with some of the bottom cropped out like i did in my avatar, and #3. i need to find a better place to actually take some time to set up some shots and bring my tripod. ive been wanting to do that with my car too.
