Just got home from our coal creek trip...it was an absolute blast!! day started off a little rough we got onto the trail and I couldn't make it up the first hill after several attempts we realize my front wheels had no power... soafter being pulled to the top of the hill by an s10 we come to the conclusion that my hubs were not locking....So Luckily Castleman just happed to have some milemarker locking hubs in the back of his truck... so after a quick replacement we were back on track!!(big thanks to all of you for helping out!!!!!) After lunch and further down the trail the s10 that pulled me out broke an axle.... then I had to tow him up a hilll... lol...over all an amazing day and tons of fun with a really good group... Unfortunatley I forgot my camera so hopefully the others will post up pics!!

It was WET!!!!!!!!and fun... at one point I was helping Mec out.. and jumped in to a foot of mud! Ill post up soon!

Muddy, nasty muddy, the kind of mud that sticks to everything. The inside of my X looks like a mud bomb exploded. It's even worse when you have two kids and a dog. It seemed like it was alot dryer last weekend.
aside from the mud it was a great run. I'll post up some pictures soon.

looks like you guys had a blast

Man, this trip was the absolute most fun I have had with my X. Since this was my first time on an actual trail, I was a little nervous. But after sliding my way up that first hill, it hit me. These things are built like tanks lol. Thanks for the great day guys. We'll have to go again come spring time...and hopefully when it's not so wet lol. Hopefully we'll get some more pics later.

Had a great time - well worth the trip down. Dave - thx for spearheading this one.

Weather was beautiful - mid/upper 50s and sunny. I even heard the frogs/spring peepers on my way out of the park. Spring is coming to TN.

Awesome! Man I'm glad you guys got things turned around. Stevin had sent me a text I guess about the time you guys were hitting the main hill climb on 22 and told me how nasty it was there. I imagine there was a lot of thawing going on over the week that really got things sloppy up there. And with the bad weather, CC probably hasn't been able to maintain the trails regularly so I bet they were really chewed up.

Did you guys do the same loop or break off onto some different trails?

Awesome pics so far guys. I had a blast again, even with the slow start. I love seeing so many X's in one spot on the trails. That big hill climb was one mofo of a start to the day.

I keep getting surprised by these tires, even with the wear on them they have been doing pretty good. Still hope to have tires for the next time though, eyeballing km2's.

My only casualty was the lower bumper trim popping off and the rear hub cap i lost.

Drake, some of the stuff we had problems last time were cake this time, and stuff that was easy last time was hell getting through this time. There was no maintenance whatsoever since the last time. Real bad rutting going on in some sections.

I shot over 300.. Just have to pick through them some... Yea we did 22.. It took 3 hours!!! man it was messy. We talked about breaking the group up once we all got up the first hill.. But I think it worked out a lot better that we didn't. We had two offroading rookies and they both did great once they got a hang of what the Xterra could really do. In the end..We really needed every one on the trip to stick together because all the issues.. Castleman.. Big props to you for having those hubs! I know Luke was happy he could keep going..

And after we found 27 we did it and 26.. I had planned on adding a new trail but.. Due to a late start and 22 being a B!tch time just wasnt there.. Greg you really missed out on 27-26. On top of Windrock we had about 4 to 5 inches of snow.. I have some great video of. Ill work on posting it.

Trip was fun!!! I wish I had taken more photos...I think I took a total of 6 while we stopped for lunch. Was good to meet everyone.

Man the more I look at those pics the more I'm amazed at the trail conditions. I've never seen it that sloppy up there. I imagine all of the snow and resulting snow melt from the decent weather that week really turned the ground into soup.

As for the NOAS run, I've already put in my vacation request for that Friday. Doing it now to make sure nobody at work pisses in my Wheaties and makes me miss that trip. I had so much fun last year that it's a must I go again especially now that my X is in top form. Last year I ran the trails with a destroyed centerlink and my supercharger was offline.

It was very bad..... I was thinking after I seen the first major hill.. We may not be doing much here today. 26,and 27 were not as bad.. Well the end of 26 was...
26's rock garden was real fun... I didnt remember it being as challenging.. Drake have you ever done 41? I wanted to head that way.. but that I wanted revenge with the end rut on 26... Some one said that the ATV group had backed off some of maintenance...

I've done so many trails there that it's hard for me to keep up with. Especially when I was following Tuff. I never really paid attention to where I was going. lol #41 sounds like one I've done but I'd have to look at my map and photos and see.

If the ATV club is backing off on their maintenance that is going to piss me off. Especially since they are the ones who destroy the trails in the first place. This could pose a serious issue to the park.

Did any of those guys finish Rattle Rock? It's a seriously gnarly trail isn't it? Just wicked brutal. If you walk the trail you will see the debris trail of carnage all the way to the top. Last time I was on it there was a whole door from a rig laying in between some rocks.

What trail were the two pics of you posted Chase? The ones with the ditch down the middle and the snowy rocky section.

Rattle Rock was INSANE! A few of them made it up like 3/4 of the way but got DENIED at the trail exit. And those pics are of the little side access trail on Rattle Rock. It goes right up along the right side of the main entrance to that trail.

What trail number is RR?

I'm not entirely sure it has a number. It's actually a point of interest that is highlighted in the map legend. It's only like 0.8 miles in length but will take 4+ hours to get through with the most extreme rigs. It comes out onto G5 east of the #22 trail exit.

as the runner is now, i havent found any slop that will stop me, but i couldnt do any serious rocks; my IFS(or whats left of it) would come out from under the truck and slap me in the face

Pics and Vids are really cool. It was really fun. Finally got most of the mud cleaned up. On the way home from Nashville today I noticed one of my head lights was pointing up instead of forward....The whole head lamp assembly popped out of the little plastic do dad that is supposed to hold it in. I think that whoever designed those little fasteners that hold the grill on should have their fingers broken.....

I am looking forward to going again.

What date in May is the NOAS?

It is May 14th - 16th. Most of us ride on that Friday and Saturday and return home on Sunday but a few stick around to hit the trails Sunday as well. Last year a few did a night run on that Friday night also. It is a real good time. Some good guys to wheel with and you'll get to see some seriously cool rigs. I hope all of you guys that went on this run can make it. Last year we had nearly 25 rigs there and I'd love to see 40 this year. Let folks know that the X is serious business. ;)

Im going to try to make it... All depends on the Job... If I have one by then LOL

Finally got to watch the first vid of the hillclimb and all I can say is Holy S***!!!! That is the worst I've ever seen that hill. Luke, man I had visions of you ending up like me when I laid my X over at the bottom of that hill. Directly across from where Dave is parked you can see that huge hole. We were doing that trail in reverse and I was parked on the other side of it waiting to go up the other hill when my X started sliding backwards and I dropped right into that hole. I think I've still got seat cushion in my ass. lol Glad Sean was there with his winch and Stephen (Jaxterra) threw a strap on my roofrack and held me from going all the way over on my side. Good times! lol

I about went in that ditch I was parked at... I tried 4 times to get up that hill... 1st guy there.. Seen a dry rut but could never get the X to roll that way... after most got up the hill I finally made it... I was thinking oh Sh!t is this what we have new off roaders in for...
I need Tires something bad..... But those are the challenges that make the whole trip worth it!

Lol yeah At one point I think dave was headed for that hole... it was a mess!!! tons of fun though can't wait for the noas run!

Great vids Chase! I wish I could have gone on this one because I would really like to know how well my Coopers would have handled that mud. They've handled great so far but I don't think I've been in any goopy bubble-gum slop like that or at least not that much.

I was very surprised at how everyones tires handled that stuff. Especially mine, I just excepted it before I even got there that if there was mud I was going to have to be pulled up every hill. But they just keep grabbing and pulling.

Is there something wrong with it? Last year I led a group of completely stock xterras and frontiers (one of which was 2WD) and everyone made it through all of the obstacles. At the events, vehicles are grouped together whether it be by capabilities/mods or willingness of the driver's. Nobody will force you or ask you to do anything you don't feel comfortable with. I wheeled at CC bonestock many times.

But if you prefer to ride along and keep your X safely in the parking lot, I'm sure there will be plenty of available seats. I will probably have one.

nothing wrong other than i don't have anything that i want and my tires are just highway tires and they aren't in the best of shape. but if i can get tires before then i would like to try someout, but if you have room i would love to tag along.
