The other day I was sitting at a stop light in my 95 Acura Legend when I was hit from behind. The car was deamed a total loss and now I will be back in car payment land. So I decided that I would like to own a Xterra and here I am. I thought what better place to learn about a vehicle before you buy one then reading Xterra owner comments. I hope everyone loves their vehicle as I was going between Nissan or Toyota. I plan on getting a 4x4 version in order to take on trails and hit the snow when it returns.
See ya in the hills,
Rusty

Are you going new or used??? Anyway, the new generation X's (05+ models) are by far superior to the older versions. I say this because of the beefier engine and available rear locker ('off road' model). But the older ones are fairly nice too.

You picked a good choice!!

Oh, by the way.... Sorry to hear about your wreck. I hope you and anyone else involved in the accident is okay!!

The wreck was a bummer but the payments for a vehicle are worse. No one was really hurt so that is good.
I am planning on getting the '07. I had read about the changes for the new generation as you mentioned and it seems to make better sence. Thanks for the reply :)

You said you wanted a 4x4... are you going to get the 'off road' model, or are you going to get the 'X', 'S', or 'SE'

I have the 'S' 4x4 model and love it. I sort of wish i would have gotten the "OR" but I got a pretty good deal and OR's are hard to find in Houston!

I plan on getting the 'OR' model. They are for sale everywhere here. Washington is probably a better place to find them though. I was thinking of getting the Manual version. I am just getting into the 4x4 world and wondered if there was a advantage to manual or auto.. any thoughts?

Great choice in choosing an Xterra..... I am close to purchasing an Xterra. Have considered and driven alot of other vehicles with varing price range, mostly higher in price, but Xterra fits the bill for me with its quality, sport nature, offroad prowess, room, and size.

Offroad model rocks, and having the lockers is great. Thought the new Wrangler 4 door would be high on my list especially a Rubicon (ya right, going for 3-5K over MSRP), however did not like the Wrangler all that well anyway (except love the dual tops)

Xterra is it!!!

I have auto... I have never really been a manual driver. Alot of experienced off road drivers like a manual, but if you arent that experienced you should probably go auto.
