i am very well aware none of us would ever get those gains.

Cobb Tuning was talking about a tuning box a while back. Wonder if they ever made any progress? Still though, unless you have a turbo, a ECU upgrade isnt worth the money it costs.

jet performance (an actual real company) does a ecu upgrade here the email i got from them when i asked about hp increases and what they change
We do have an ECU upgrade available for your application. Since your ECU does not have an easily replaceable chip we do require that the ECU be sent to us for programming. Our ECU upgrade kit contains everything needed to pack and ship the ECU to us and includes complete instructions, ECU location chart and our programming specification sheet that you fill out so we know what upgrades have been done to the vehicle. Next day air return shipping is also included in the price. The part # to fit your vehicle is 65002, which retails for $399.00. The kit is available through JET directly or through any of our dealers.

Once we receive your ECU it will be programmed according to the vehicle specification sheet to optimize the fuel and timing curves for your specific modifications. For best results the ECU upgrade should be done after you complete all of your other upgrades so we can program specifically for them. We also recommend using at least 89 octane fuel due to the modified ignition advance. We modify timing and fuel only, we do not modify either speed or rev limiters on your vehicle.
Horsepower gains will vary depending on how the vehicle is modified, but average gains are 8-10 horsepower to the drive wheels. If you have any questions you can reach our tech department toll free at 800-535-1161. Our hours are M-F, 8-5 PST.

for 399 i want more than 8-10 hp but .... they actually change stuff i read once all those chips you buy do is change the ignition timing

i dont think so.... take the ecu out and send it to them...... no not for a 8-10 gain...... IMO y6hey should come out with a hand held programer for it so it is plug and play....

So how much mileage/horsepower is worth $400 and being without your X for a couple of weeks?

For me? A lot more than 8-10 HP and 1-2 MPG!

Yea, I used to own a Twin Turbo Z and that's the only Nissan I would consider a chip for. Otherwise like everyone said that a lot of freakin money for no car and 10hp.

I received my best results when I "chipped" my knock sensor. The only trouble was it just brought me back to factory specs.
