Love the color!

:D

BTW - Before heading off road...when you are ready...

You should remove the stock steps, mud flaps, and rear sway bar if its still there. The Grill Guard should also come off, as it hits on things a stock X can get over easily....which dents up the bottom of the Guard, making it harder to sell later, etc.

Thank you but it will be awhile before it goes off road lol

Looks like someone already got to the mudflaps. ;)

this question might be silly but if i take all that off will it be hard to put back on or is it something i should just leave off?

Muzikman

You can just leave most of the stuff off. Unless you actually need them, the steps just get in the way. The mud flaps don't really protect anything and the can't even tell the swaybar has been removed.

And why will it be awhile before it goes off road. I bought mine brand new in July 05 and it was on the trails two weeks after I drove it off the lot...

That being said, the paint on my 10 year old Intrepid is in better shape than my less than 2 year old Xterra, thanks to the PA pin stripping. :)

I keep getting mixed reactions as what to do or not to do and lets say I stay on the easy trails I can keep it the way it is. Others say even on easy trails I have to take everything off. I'm just Lost right now!

Mudflaps do absolutly nothing for a SUV that will be taken off road. Step rails... well, do you use them?? if not, take them off. If so... take them off (LOL). Sway bar... this thing can stay on if you only plan to do mild off roading... but if you take it off you probably wont even know the difference.

The stuff can stay off.

As for the rear sway bar...even for mild wheeling, it should come off...its a bad design...the passenger side link HITS the passenger side shock absorber on even mild wheel travel, banging the shock at a bad place, like a running back getting hit at the side of his knees by a tackle, ending his career.

People have broken their passeneger side shocks going up their DRIVEWAYS!...and, they have had that bad bar also break other stuff, as well having the then broken shock break other stuff, as the loosened/broken parts flail about under the truck hitting OTHER parts, etc.

So - even for stock trails...I'd say take off the stuff you don't want broken, which typically includes the grill guards (Which hit on stock trails, because grill guards stick down so low, so you can't get over stuff a STOCK X can...), the step rails, which are flimsy aluminum, and the mud flaps, which get caught on even small bumps....and the rear sway bars.

The X does really well in stock form with just those minor adjustments (Free)....and, if you take stuff off before its damaged, you can sell it for mucho dinero on E-Bay, etc. (After you scuff it up, it won't sell for as much...)

:D

The things mentioned only take a few minutes to do each...not a big deal.

If you WANT to, a nice mod is sliders...it gives you your step, and, it protects the rocker panels from bad drivers on the road, and just replaces your flimsy aluminum steps with a real steel bar instead...

It also acts as a better place to jack the truck from if you ever get stuck/want to change a flat tire, etc.

And - the best part, with the $ you save just by selling the Guard and OEM Steps, its like you're getting PAID to get the sliders.

:D

A coupla years ago I got T-Boned by a bad driver in NYC, rammed me right between my doors at a light he ran...

I had ZERO damage thanks to the Sliders...the other guy was towed away.

A bystander with an X asked me where I got them, as they were AMAZED at how they protected the truck, and wanted them BAD...as they drive in NYC a lot too....and were worried about their kids in the back.

ok i decided to finally take my X out on a off roading trip I saw where you were saying about taking off the nerf bars, grill guard ,and rear swaybar. well my boyfriend took off the nerf bars. which he thought looked ugly anyway. I now about sliders , my b/f just got a set for is 4runner . now my question is , when I bought my X ,it was already lifted, so should I still take off he brush guard since it is sitting higher than stock.

I would take the brush gaurd off. Especially since you plan on hitting some blue trails at rausch. You'll most likely encounter some large rocks/ruts, which the brush guard will get hung up on.

Also, what type of lift do you have on?

The Off Road package was only available on 2005 and newer trucks. All the 02-04 trucks come stock with a gas tank skidplate and front "splashguard" which some people mistakenly call a skidplate. I'm not sure on the 00-01 trucks, they may have come with them also.

Check out the shock damage. This is honestly a safety issue.

Well I Don't Know How Much Lift, My Boyfriend Thinks It's About 2" But We Reall Don't Know Since I Got It Used. I Think My B/f Said Something About Making A Front Skid Plate, Because Of The Plastic Guard.
