: AUX IN or IPOD Adaptor for 2006 Xterra S
bryanrules0000 03-31-2007, 06:05 PM whats up homies. i am new here. first post. anyhow i just got a pretty tits 06 xterra s from an auction at a sweet price, and well i have a few hundred bucks i left over that i figured i would use to take care of my basic mod i want for my xterra. not looking to win any audio awards or thump around town. im stoned so i might be rambling to bear with me
i want to hook up my Video Ipod to my xterra. preferrably i would like to install some sort of AUX in jack so i can plug in any kind of audio device not jsut my ipod. but if i have to, i am willing to settle with a ipod adaptor. i could care less about controllign the ipod from my stereo controls if its gonna save me some money for something else. any suggestions as to what i can get. i aint too car savvy i jsut know enuff to keep the car healthy and clean and minor tweaks. any links to some products that would wortk with my 06 xterra factory stereo. probably would ned a little ipod mount as well. and probably a charger that hooks to the ipod and the cigg lighter or power socket
wow thats alot of typing for a simple question.
any idea suggestions?
ps- i jsut test drove the car for the first time today and i love it. i have a eclipse gt that is pretty peppy on the road so it was nice to see that pep in the xterra. once my loan papers process i should have it tuesday!

json3904 03-31-2007, 11:07 PM welcome to the club...... just hit the search button and type in ipod adapter and it should pull up something you want..... good luck also you might want to look into is going aftermarket like pionner... the one i have has a ipod jack.....
bryanrules0000 04-01-2007, 08:11 AM thanks for the info. I tried doing a bunch of searches and I cant find anything. Looks like the only adaptors that are available are for the 06 xterrra with the 6cd changer... which i dont have
so you suggest an aftermarket stereo
i have been lookng at oe that is l;ike 99$, its a pioneer (i think) and it has an AUX in... can i assume that if i get this, it would fit in my xterra and work with its speakers... sorry i am dumb about this stuff
bryanrules0000 04-01-2007, 10:42 AM OK so after reading a few other forums, i think i am just going to get a new stereo headunit and keep my stock speakers. most people say i will most likely get an improved sound ouit of the stock speakers too. so i am looking at a few ipod/sat stereos that will do what i need. but does anyone have any suggestions?
also i have never installed a stereo headunit before. you think its easy enuff to do myself or should i just have it installed?
i really would like to keep the stereo under $130
rpmxs 04-01-2007, 01:11 PM it's not terribly difficult, however it's probably a good idea to know what you're doing when you're connecting the radio wiring to the connectors. You don't want that stuff coming loose and having to pull the damn thing out to figure out why your stereo isn't working.
i did the same thing, i just bought a decent pioneer deck with an aux in...can't remember the model but it was like 110-120. Easy enough to do and sound quality is 1000x better than car kits.
Maybe look for a place that does installs for free if you buy their deck? I know they're fairly common around where I live...
If you do decide to install it yourself, make sure you cover the lower part of the dash because it scratches REALLY easily.
bryanrules0000 04-01-2007, 01:52 PM thanks i am probably gonna have it installed at best buy
fatkid_UH-60 04-01-2007, 02:46 PM i too think that i'm gonna get a new head unit. i know my '04 has the rockford fosgate head unit. but is the speakers RF also? if not, anyone know what would be a good compatible brand.
yeah i suppose i should of started a new thread.
json3904 04-01-2007, 04:31 PM i put fosgate 6 1/2' in the front and memphis 6x9's in rear with a nitro amp pushing them......

i dont know if they stock speakers in your 04 are fosgate..... sorry....

they make a pre wired plug that fits itno the factory and then all you do is match the colors and either soder them or use connectors..... good luck hope it turns out fine.....
rpmxs 04-01-2007, 07:50 PM ^ yeah i was referring to the prewired connectors...but you still have to connect those to the radio wires, and you gotta make sure you do it well. i've had friends do it and thought it was a piece of cake until the vibrations from the car took their toll and a speaker cut out, lol.
again, it's not hard...you just have to make sure you get a really good connection.
json3904 04-01-2007, 08:47 PM you are making it sound harder then it realy is..... all you need is the crimp connetors, and a crimper.... you strip the wire about a 1/8 or so maby more then slide the wire into the conectors and then you take the crimper and squeeze and you then pull (not to hard) or the wire to make sure you did it right....... if you need to i can take a simple video on how to do it just so you know....... like i said earlier it aint hard just take your time....
MileHigh05! 04-02-2007, 08:38 AM When I brought my X to best buy, the same place where I bought the stereo they said they couldn't install. I had to go to 2 different best buys before they would even look at it. Finally they installed a spacer on top and it has been lose ever since. If you have a good stereo install place around your hood go there!!
