with an airbox mod yes there is some power to be gaind, just going to a K&N filter really wont pick up that much.

i have been wondering, how do you do the air box mod for the X. i have seen them done for the titan and the fronty but i haven't ran across one for the X......

well, i tried a K&N drop in. Then I sold it. Then I ordered an Injen Powerbox full intake system. Then I sold it. Then I bought my 2nd K&N drop in and stayed with it. I gave it more of a chance, and noticed where it felt different. It was right where the horsepower kicks in about 4000rpms. It seemed to pull harder thru 5500 where before it was more isolated at 4000-4500 before it would die off. Could be all in my head. But the only thing I'm sure of is i didnt lose anything by using the K&N dropin. And I got a sweet deal for $38.60 new via a Kragens mistake.

if you have a "kragen" or "checkers auto" in your area, you can bring them a printout of the online price, and they usually will honor it.

but in my case he read it wrong and i got it $5 cheaper than that even..

Most of the data on the K&N indicates that it lets a higher proportion of smaller particles into the engine...so you have an overall increase in abrasives inside the engine with the K&N.

Its why it can let air through it more easily.

ya, I'll deal with it. I should have stuck with my own 15 years of expereince when I had my first one and kept it in the first place.
