json3904 03-31-2007, 12:52 AM has anyone heard of this brand of tire?????? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=001&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=110108030240&rd=1,1
they look pretty good and fairly cheap......
Never heard of them, sounds like a private labled tire...so it could be anything really.
I'd avoid it personally.
json3904 03-31-2007, 11:30 AM thanks tj!!!!!
json3904 04-20-2007, 07:36 PM OK so i went to discount tire and asked them if they had a decent tire for off road for around 650..... hes showed me the bfg rugged trail which i didn't care for and then after some ?'s we went down the list of what he could offer me.... i ended up with the Yokohama geolander the size being 285/75r/16 i think or it might be 285/70r/16 either way i had some rubbing and when i got home i shaved some plastic and now no rubbing..... the main ? i am asking is when i take it off road and flex will it cause a problem.... i used a ramp and backed on it and then drove up causing the front and the rear to flex and i didn't find anything that i would hit other than the rear has the stopper for the Axel which sticks out to the side but i think i might grind it or just take it off since i think it is useless (am i wrong??????) ill post some pics in the morning to let ya ll see....... thanks!
What year is the X, what rims are you using, do you have any BL or lifts...and what's the actual tire size, load range, make and model?
:D
If I know that, I can tell you.
:D
json3904 04-21-2007, 11:01 AM the X is a 00 se i have a AC SL i measured and they are slightly over 32" tires
here is the stoper that i was talking about

here is what the tread looks like

and the triming i did.
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h255/jsongrl/jason/IMG_0902.jpg

OK, sounds like 32's with 75 series, so I'll guess 265/75/16's?
As 32's fit a stock X, w/o any lift...they should be fine...and, 32's are normally 32x11.5/15...and these are skinny 32's, more like 32x10.5.
So, they are essentially stock width tires as far as clearance goes....the oem 2001 tires were about 29", so they are 3" larger in diameter, and stick out about 1.5" more than the stock ones.
W/O a BL, the max tire size is 32" unless its just for mall crawling, then 33's can fit....
You COULD have gone fatter, and it would have been better for flotation in mud, sand, soft snow, etc...
Trim at least is easy enough...just turn the wheel all the way back and forth, if it hits plastic, cut off the part that hits.
For full compression of 32's, most people remove all the plastic in the upper wheel well.
Enjoy!
:D
(285/75/16's are like 33x11.5's...skinny 33's)
As for the bumpstop...yeah the wings stick out...but your skinny little tires won't hit them.
I have 33x12.5's, and mine didn't hit them....albeit I DID bang them upwards (And discovered that the rubber part also covered the tops of the wings...)
:D
Anthony 04-21-2007, 05:26 PM Nice steprails. ;)
json3904 04-21-2007, 08:22 PM i dont like the rails but the wife asked me to keep them on so my little girl can get in on her own, and her mom can get in.....
TJTJ the tire is a 285/75/16 as previously posted and i have a rubbing issue that can only be cured by turning the "wings" cause it is hitting the guard on the passanger side that has some lines running behind it..... but other than that i have no problems....... Thanks
json3904 04-21-2007, 08:24 PM also i bought a new rotary tool and cleaned up the trimming i will post some pics when i get a chance......

285/75/16 is a 33", not a 32" tire.
:D
They're typically like a 33x11.5/16....NOT a 32x11.5/15.
:D
So - that's why you get some rub still, and off road, under compression, it will be worse.
Also - the step rails break if you off road with them on anything more than fire road type trails, they're just flimsy aluminum, and they stick down too low...
If you get real sliders, you get a step, but you also get steel instead of aluminum, and true protection for the truck...plus, a place to jack it from off road...as the oem toy sissor thing is useless off road, etc....and there's NOWHERE on a stock X to lift with a hi-lift/offroad jack.
:D
Ricer-X 05-07-2007, 06:11 AM he does take the rails off when we go wheelin, and puts em back on when he gets back, i had some peeps complain when i took mine off and lifted it, i told "dont ride with me then" but it also wasnt my woman or mother in law that COMPLAINED
json3904 05-07-2007, 10:39 AM Yes that is the reason, everytime I look at those damn things I want to take them off....
Ricer-X 05-08-2007, 06:27 AM if krys had a problem with having to climb in my truck i would probably just toss a little step stool in the back rather than put the rails on. you should keep one of those little square plastic step stools ion your X jason
json3904 05-08-2007, 08:59 AM Yeah its her mom n Lex that need the rails...Lex climbs on them to get in by herself & we do have a lil step stool for her mom in the back.
json3904 05-29-2007, 07:26 PM Nice steprails. ;)
well i was cleaning the windows when i steped on the driver side rail and next thing i knew i was standing on the ground, with a hurt shin..... the bolts are now stripped..... so now the rails are taken off at least till i get a tap and die set to rethread the holes.....
WilliamRuiter 06-14-2008, 11:15 AM Ok I thought there was another post that shows the trimming on the inner wall. I can't find it.
json3904 06-14-2008, 01:40 PM there is a few posts around here that show triming... let me look and see what i can find out.. lol
