I just bought a Xterra with out fog lamps. Can you put the factory foglamps in & how hard is it. Is the truck prewired or should I go aftermarket?

The OEM lamps on the new X's are actually pretty good, but an aftermarket set would be less expensive for the same quality light...as the stealerships make quite a mark-up, etc.

Last time I checked, you should be pre-wired, at least the '06's were...so that part should not be too bad, just find the harness.

:D

Can I just change out the stalk on the column?

my 05 was prewired. Ijust installed the factory foglight kit, very easy and well worth it.

I just did my 06 too. It is pre-wired for the lights. I bought my lamps from Courtesy Nissan separately, didn't get the stalk. I wired them into a separate switch so I could have independent control of them and not have them tied to the hi/low of the headlights. I just cut the light connections off to use and wired them up with new wire, relay and switch.

As a note: on their site it list hardware you need. Some of the numbers they have is inaccurate. You only need two clips, two u-bolts, and two hex bolts. Total. Not four of each like they list. If it does in fact use four, I can't figure out where all the extra stuff goes. lol

Yes you can just swap out the stalk. If you do use the factory stalk be aware that the 05-06 stalk is different than the 07 stalk and get the correct one.

IF you have an 07 make sure you get the stalk for the 07!! the 05 and 06 used a different stalk. Dont know why they did that but they changed a few small things on the 07's. Such as the fog lamp stalk, rear license plate lights... and I think a few other minor changes.

But yeah, all the new gen X's should be pre wired.

www.yournissanparts.com has the best pricing on the "complete" factory foglight kit.

I have a 2004 with fog lights that are loose and vibrate as I drive. Can anyone show me how to remove the fog light from the bumper housing without harming the fog light unit. I've removed the access plastic panel with the three screws and one bolt but can't figure out how to remove the fog light it self.
