:usuck: HELP! ok, i have a 2004 x, 4x4, automatic with all the extras, less the stereo. not that there were that many extras in 04. ok, anyway i may have totaled my baby saturday. i hit a patch of ice, was only going 15 mpg when i totally spun out, did a 180 and smacked into a concrete divider. ***sigh***
the repair shop told me that it's gonna be tight and may have to be totaled.
i was on nissan's site and called my dealer and and am soooo confused! there are way more models then before. any suggestions? and they no longer have yellow!!!!! my baby's yellow (yea, i am a "girl"). though i didn't cry till they told me she may be no more.

usually you can work with body shops if the numbers are close and they can save it from being totalled..... I had this situation once and they worked with me and save my old truck!

If they do total it you might be able to buy it from the insurance company (usually for about 10% of what they pay you) - then try to get it back on the road and re-registered.

Depending upon the damage, you might be able to opt to have them do less of a thorough job, leaving off arts and labor to shave money from the repair.

For example, if there are bumper repairs, tell them to leave the bumpers off, you'll get after market ones on your own, if the tires or rims are damaged, same deal.

If the t-bars, or UCA, etc, are damaged, tell them you'll get them after market.

And so forth.

Between used parts, aftermarket parts, etc....you can chop a whole lot off the cost of repairs to make it so the truck isn't totaled out...

...if you DO buy it after its been totaled, you end up with a salvage title in most places, so its value is just to YOU.

thats rough, but i know when i crashed my jeep, they were $300 over the 'total point' and they ended up leaving out stupid little stuff to bring it just under, and saved my behind.
