Looks nice. I just bought an '07 Offroad on Tuesday. What winch did you use & did you set it up with a second battery? I am in the planning stages and thinking very seriously on getting a winch.

I dont have a winch. If I did, I dont think that I will need a second battery because I have an Exide Orbital Select battery. Its pretty much the same as an Optima Red top. I wont be able to put a winch in after next Thursday because that is where my train horns are going (inside the front bumper).
Here is a pic of my battery

Yeah, i just added the "off road" badges. I did it because I am basically building my 's' model into an off road model (and then some). Plus it looks cooler!!! I just have to wait untill a locker comes out for our X's. And Im waiting for the right rims to come along (you 05+ model owners know what im talking about).

I also have the calmini 5" lift coming, and the radflo 4"-7" adjustable coilover shocks.

way too many mods!!??!!?? I am going crazy over my truck....

Plus I am really drunk right now.

I noticed you have the same headers I have.

Cool, im getting them installed sometime this week. Did the shop who installed them say anything about warranty? Or, did you install them yourself. I was going to do it myself but I figured that I better let a professional mess with that!

I mounted a Warn 9.5xp in my Shrock....great winch, I've been really happy with it...its really fast under load....and takes a beating w/o complaining...under water, rock crawling, it eats it up.

I swapped out the roller fairlead for an Aluminum Fairlead, and swapped out the wire rope for synthetic (MasterPull Super Line II) rope...as its a lot stronger for the same diameter...and, most importantly to me:

1. If it snaps, it just drops, w/o slinging projectiles that almost take my freekin head off, like wire rope does when IT snaps...

2. The Al and synth rope saved me about 45 lbs off my front end...a big difference.

I have a Ward XD9000i. I got it for a steal. If that deal didn't come around, I would most likely own an XP right now.

I too switched over to synthetic line. I have 5/16x125' Amsteel Blue line and an aluminum hawse fairlead. Not only does the synth line cut down on weight, it's selling point to me is safety.

You will have a hard time running dual batteries in the new X's. There isn't much room under the hood. If you want to take up the space, you could put it in the back and run cables back. I would use some serious cable though as a winch draws a lot of amps.

where by chance did you get that train horn kit? and by chance, and pics of where/ how you mounted it?

I did it myself however I have air and a garage wich makes the job easier. However if you don't feel comfortable ,just let someone install them. You will be impressed with the way they sound & perform. I do recomend buying new gaskets from the dealer though, mine leaked.I had to take everything apart a second time to install the new gaskets.Just a little insurance to make sure there are no leaks.

I dont know where the train horns came from, they were a christmas present. I am having them installed on Thursday (hopefully) by Jim Shrake at shrokworks. The reason why he is installing them is because they are going to be mounted in my shrock bumper. I will post pics after the install.

As for the comments on the headders... thanks i will get some new gaskets.

Cool.

:D

BTW - for the winch, I found I didn't need dual batteries, but I did spring for the Yellow Top Optima over the Red Top battery...mostly because the deeper cycle lets it provide power longer under high drain....whereas the Reds are best for starters, the Yellows Shine for winches, etc.

My Yellow's been under the hood since 2002...and shows no signs of weakening.

Yeah, they dont make a R34 yellow top anymore. So for us new gen Xers its hard to find a reverse terminal batt. So the only yellowtop you can get is the smaller one (not sure which model number) and smaller is not good. But you can get the regular yellow top and do some slight modification to your X like I did to fit my Exide...

As for train horns I found the web site that sells my particular package.
