I have recently acquired a 2001 4x4 X with auto and v/6.. My question is how much grinding(if that is the right word)should I encounter when going from 4wh Hi to 4wh Low. Mine grinds a bit when I go from 4h to 4l and I do not know if thats normal? thanks

yeah I am at a stop with trans in neutral.

I usually hear a little trying to get it into 4lo. Always been that way for me. Nothing btw 2hi and 4 hi.

you will hear a slight grind but it shouldn't be like if you miss a gear. Yank down on the stick hard (no pun intended) when shifting to 4lo to keep the grinding at a minimum. it might be time for a fluid change too.
