Ok this question has to do with the timing belt. I have read that it is due at 105000 miles (168981km) I just bought the x a week ago with 153000km. The dealer told me the previous owner mentioned that it was replaced at 100000 km. Do you guys just think he was lying to make a sale? I think he must have thought it was due at 105000km instead of miles and said it was done at 100 just to assure me everything was fine.

The reason I ask is because I am planning a big trip (about 2500km) next month. Is it ok to run it right to the 105000 and change it when I get back or should I get it changed now to be safe?

Well that is roughly 95,000 miles. You should be ok to go on your trip but I would change it when you get back for sure. Personally, I would not trust the dealer.

x2 good for the trip . those sales people would give there mother away to make a sale.i can bet its never been done . there is 1x2 silver sticker that comes with most kits, look at the door jam or under the hood with a/c stickers it will have the date and mileage of the belt change.

change it now, that way your not worrying during the whole trip. chances are you will be fine but thats not a chance i'm not willing to take. some have gone 150k still with no problems and some have not made it as far as you. Its up to you but thats my opinion.
