Hey, i'm a new driver, i'm only in high school, but i love my Xterra alot, it's basically stock, so, anyone who has experience, where can i start modifications to my Xterra? (keep it cheap or not too expensive, please!!) i plan to do some real off-roading this summer and i need to get some basic ideas so i can do that and not damage my car!!

Start with a PML ("Poor Man's Lift") and some good tires. Remove the steprails and Mudflaps, and that will plenty to start enjoying some trails!!

As you save up more money, you'll want some rock sliders and skidplates...

then after the rock sliders and skids add a 3" lift and a shrock bumper and your all set....... and welcome to the club.....

you can only have 2 of the 3: cheap, reliable, high numbers when it comes to modding.......if your in highschool seriously learn from my mistakes. invest your money into makign the car as reliable as possible and then invest the rest....go throgh college with that money sitting in an account and make a sweet ass graduation present for yourself!! If you are hellbent on taking it off roading a decent set of A/T's will give you more than enough fun to make it through school!! then buy somethign you reall really want!

oh another thing is make a real good friend who knows how to weld!!! I am having my buddy weld me up some sliders this summer that will cost HELLA lot cheaper than shrock! Not to downplay schrock which is awesome but i have real issues paying 300+ dollars for some steal tubing that took a machine a couple of minutes to bend.....

I look at $300 sliders this way...it's cheaper to buy $300 than pay a body shop to fix my rocker panels so my doors will close. ;)

It's all in how hard you wheel.

But I agree. PML and tires. Then armor up...you can never have enough armor.
