yes and also could be safety switch on the clutch or if its a auto the park switch. move the clutch pedal or the shifter or key around and back and forth next time it wont start.

well no power to the locks hints at maybe there isnt a good connection to the battery, but it starts intermittently. Can you verify a good connection to the battery?

I am having a similar problem with my wifes 2000 Xterra SE, it sometimes wont start right away, the starter will just click, but after a few seconds of waiting it will start just fine, the wiered part is while driving, when I push the brake it shuts the stero off for a few seconds and then there stereo will come back on, it also will randomly turn on the wiper blades, and the headlights will also flicker on and off. I have no clue how to fix this. Any ideas anyone?

Mine ended up being the ground wiring, I re-did both connecters and the entire ground wire and that fixed the problem

Had the same problem with my wifes 2000 Xterra, she left the lights on over night and it drained the battery. Couldn't get it started even after taking the battery out and charging it from my car for 20 minutes. Took it down to checker and they said the battery had plenty of juice.

I tried my battery in her truck and all that did was blow the damn battery fuse :aufkopfhauen-big: good job on me. I learned that you can't remove the battery fuse by itself. Its bolted in underneath the fuse box. One crushed and mangled fuse later, we get a mechanic friend to unbolt the fuse and replace it. Slight blow to my ego aside.. that problem was fixed.

The truck still has a random bought of not starting. We can get it to start again by wiggling the fuse box. So I have a feeling the problem is there somewhere.

Now her radio is completely dead so tonight I have to figure out if we blew a fuse or the whole dang radio! Luckily one of her coworkers kept the stock radio out of his 98 Altima so I'm going to see if I can install that if her radio is dead. Not entirely confident it will just PLUG RIGHT IN.. if it doesn't I have an old Blaupunkt I can toss in.

All of this is exacerbated by a weekend camping trip this Friday... Yaaaayyy!
