Bought my '03 4x4 auto in september '06...I love it!!!
I'm in the Chicago area and have noticed 2 little differences between my X and others:
1 - mine has the "X Terra" decals across the doors, where all others I've seen do not.
2 - According to dealer it's an "SE" but this emblem is not next to the "Xterra" emblem in the back, but do see other with it. Title does not say "SE", nor does it say "XE".

The truck originated from PA, ended up in Illinois...can this be the reason why the two differences?
How can I be sure if it's in fact an "SE"?...can I somehow check by VIN? I did an auto check - all it says is that it's an "XE/SE"

- 6cd changer w/steering wheel controls
-leather wrapped steering wheel
-headlight bezels "titanium" color rather than the dark grey like the grill

All the above are indicators of an 'SE'

unless they added the step rails the i think that is a dead giveaway, also i have never seen another X with the Decal across the doors either.

My SE also does not have the SE badge on the hatch. But it has all the other features.

i dont think mine says se but i thought the se's cane standard with the step rails and the xe's were a option

either way i guess they could have added it as a option huh

ok - so now time to go back to dealer and have a talk wih manager...

I bough this truck used in September, but under the pretence of it being an SE. I don't want to be greedy but I do want a just compensation from them.

What do you guys suggest???

Step rails could have been dealer-added or purchased later. My 04 XE's both came with step rails.

ok i just heard somewhere that only se came with step rails but thanks for clearing it up for me anthony
